Dropped on hard surface. Where can I get it repaired?

I appears fine from the outside, but when you attempt to use it as intended, you see one of the inside lens is out of alignment so nothing can be seen

SOURCE: Spot showing on pictures

Could be a pixel out on the CCD (part that records the picture) or a bit of grit, turn digital zoom on, zoom till digital zoom is just enabled (first marker), then take a picture of white wall/paper, digital zoom fully, take another picture. If the spot has moved then it is the CCD, if it hasn't then it's in the lens. If it's in the lens, take white pictures but give the unit a gentle tap between pics, if it moves it's a piece of grit. Either way it will need to go for servicing. A faulty pixel can be "remapped".

Cyclic Redundancy Check error appears in wd element 1TB hard disk. how to repair to open it. It contains lots of data.

Opening the drive outside of a clean room (meaning a special room with no contaminants and air filtration) will allow the drive surface to be contaminated and cause more problems than you have. Best solution is a data recovery specialist and expected cost is in the $500 to several thousand dollar range.

Do I pack fine china plates standing on end or flat in box??

Packing flat is preferred. The reasoning is that, if dropped accidentally, fewer pieces will be damaged. Also, this method helps spread the weight across the bottom surface of the box, and bridges the flaps. Be sure to tape your cartons on the inside bottom, as well as the outside to support your china well and reinforce the integrity of the carton, no matter how well it appears to be made. Place cushioning down first, and wrap each piece individually.

Best regards, --W/D--

Power will not go on after machine was dropped. Plastic was broken broken on the top of the device near the power connection but the circuit board appears to be undamaged.

The board may appear undamaged, but the instrument's behavior says something is broken. I have no idea what kind of musical instrument this is, but circuit boards are all the same.

Especially on boards with narrow circuit traces and surface mount parts, damage can be very hard to see. A trace might have a hairline break which would be impossible to see without bright light, strong magnification, and some idea where to look.

It's also possible that the board is fine, but some part has been damaged. The lead from some part may have broken away from the circuit trace, for example. Or a small surface-mounted component may have popped off completely or had a lead broken off.

Unfortunately, this kind of trouble is very hard to fix without detailed product information (circuit diagrams and board layout). Unless the manufacturer makes a service manual available to the general public, this means sending the unit back to them or an authorized service center for repair.

Dropped my 250 WD passport

How far from the floor was it dropped?

It's likely that the reader arm is stuck or broken. If it's already broken then what I'm about to suggest probably won't cause much more harm.

If it's stuck, you can try to knock it loose by placing the drive in a static bag, then put it in the freezer for about 20 - 30 minutes, take it out and drop it from 4 or 5 inches onto a hard surface.

That is usually a last resort option but it looks like there isn't much else that can be done. The "Unknown" state in Disk Management likely means that the computer can't even tell what it is. All it knows is that something was plugged in and powered.

The fact that there is no audible noise coming from the drive might mean that the platters aren't spinning up. And if the reader arm is misplaced or broken, it could be etching the surface of the platter as it tries to spin up.

I agree that if the data is retrievable elsewhere, it wouldn't be worth the money to recover the data. And if you do intend to throw the drive away, make sure you take it to a destruction company like Junk Busters.

They will destroy the drive at your request in the proper manner and you won't take the risk of someone else finding your dead drive and retrieving the data without your knowledge.

Umm A little psp help here please??

This appears to be a solder joint problem on the Motherboard where the battery connects. It will require you to send them to Sony for Warranty repair. Or, If you are out of warranty contact [email protected] for a repair quote and shipping instructions. If you want to repair this yourself. you will need detail electronics experience and tools to repair the problem. Even most electronics people do not always have the skills to work with Surface mount technology.
