Inside the print tray (where the paper comes out) on the upper right there is a blue lever. Pull it toward you and that will unlock the scanner. I just did this and restarted my printer and it worked! Hope this helps!

How do I fix an unlock scanner error?

Hi,

I work for Dell's Social Media Team and would like to you help with your question.
Please turn off printer. Unplug the power cable.
Inside the printer output tray (under the scanner), there should be a blue slide switch on the underside of the scanner housing. The blue button is on the underside of the section where the printed papers would emerge. This is the scanner unlock switch.
If issue persists, please contact our printer support at 1-877-335-5767 for further assistance.

My scanner won't copy, all I get are black lines

Something could be electrical/mechanical mistimed now in a mechanical way dirty microswitches that have not give a break on the right moment to stop the scanner and has damaged something what has to made the loud noise .

Keep in mind your safety by working on high voltages and also mechanical recovery.

Dell laser mfp 1815 dn "scanner locked" message

When you lift the scanner lid look to the left bottom. you should see a green slider button. If you stick your hand in the output tray and get it rigth under the green slider you will find a lever. Move that thing backwards or forwards, that is your unlocker.

Dell Laser MFP 1815 won't print. Message keeps coming up Jam 2 open rear and front door. Have opened and shut doors repeatedly, restarted printer, tried copying over message but it keeps being displayed....

I had same problem. If you go to rear of printer and open the back door you'll see it is attached to a blue connector. Unattached it so that the door opens fully and then unflap the inside roller assembly. Next open the fuser door and you'll notice a little spring loaded assembly on the inside of the opened fuser door. This is where my problem was. Make sure that the assembly springs back when pushed because part communicates with a sensor on the motherboard. If it doesn't spring back then the printer thinks there is a jam. Mine was stuck but after pushing it a few times it started to work freely again. This was a frustrating problem but that fixed my issue and hopefully it will fix yours.

There is a little tab that locks the scanner bar.
Open the flatbed cover, and you'll see it in the left corner closest to you.
To unlock it, reach your hand (palm up) into the area the the paper comes out in.
Slide the tab to the unlock position (you'll be able to see it through the flatbed area.
If you need a complete manual for the MFP, you can go to the Dell website, in the support area, and download a copy of it.

I've had this same problem, and so far the only way to clear it has been to turn the machine off and on.
