Does your machine have a pitch control? Is it on and the knob turned too far to the right? Also, do you have a 2X high speed dub switch? Is this a FACTORY tape that you are playing or is it your own formerly blank cassette?

Sony VAIO vgatz750p has problems plating video. Playback is in almost slow motion and choppy

You probably need more ram memory. Also try playing a video in your dvd player. If it plays slow and choppy you definitely need more ram memory.

If you are trying to play a video from a website (streaming) then three things can affect how smooth it plays.
1) Memory - your ram memory might be low
2) The website might be experience heavy traffic from many users.
3) The Line Speed of your internet connection from your service provider might be slow. For example: AT&T sells about 3 or 4 different packages and each one increases the line speed for uploading or downloading. If you buy the low end package the line speed is very slow on uploading and downloading or streaming. It's ok for just surfing, but nothing else.

I have a teac 3340 reel to reel recorder and believe it can only function in 2 speeds 7 1/2 ips and 15 ips. I have many reel to reel recordings that are 3 3/4 ips. Is there an adapter or gadget I can use...

In short, no. if you look closely you will see the Teac 3340 has a much larger/thicker capstan shaft than other Teac reel decks. This feature allows the faster tape speeds...7 1/2 and 15 ips. In order to slow down the Teac 3340 you would have to change the flywheel to one from another deck that was made to run at 3 3/4 and 7 1/2. Which is possible but some work..plus you would have to find a slower speed flywheel from another Teac deck. Also to maintain performance, the bias and Eq positions for the slower speeds would have to be readjusted from 7 1/2 and 15.

Vcr recording speeds

Yes. SP is "Standard Play" and LP is "Long Play", while EP/SLP are short for Extended Play/Super Long Play respectively.

Olympus DS30 voice recorder play speed issue

Hi, the solution to the problem seems to be the following. When u press play, once, you get 1x play. If whilst playing you press play a second time the DS-30 goes into slow play mode, and if you press a second time it goes into fast mode. For those of us who accidentally went into either fast or slow mode, just press the play button again, during playback, until "play" appears on the LCD screen. Apparently it is as simple as that.

I have a Sony SLV-EZ717

It sounds like the taped program was recorded on a different speed. The other VCR that you are playing the taped program may not have the speed needed to play it correctly.
Next time when you record a program try to make sure you use a speed that will be compatible on both VCRs.
For example a tape that last 120 minutes, using the different speeds will give the following recording times.
SP means "Standard Play" >>>> 2 hours
LP means " Long Play" >>>>> 4 hours
ELP means " Extra Long Play" 8 hours

Older VCRs have all the 3 speeds but newer ones only have SP and ELP.
Hope this helps.

Motor plays at a very slow speed

capstan belt may be failing. check this by removing lid and touch the capstan flywheel when running. if it is easily stalled/slow to come up to speed and or the belt slipping badly then belt will require replacement.
