Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

3 Answers

DS Lite I suppose this is worth a try as well 2 x DS Lite - symptoms - the units will not power up - if plugged into the charger the orange light comes on for 1 second and goes off I have just replaced Touch screens on 2 DS Lites, the replacement screens came with instructions (bad ones) which did not mention to cover the metal back side of the LCD. (i only read this on a forum afterwards). Also the 4 pin ribbon cable for the touch screen, i am unsure as to if the cable goes under the gold pins or over the gold pins, i have made several attempts with this connector but it always ends up underneath the gold pins but from the looks of the connector it looks like the ribbon should go over the pins. So either both units have been permanently damaged by the metal backed screens or the touch screen ribbon is the wrong side of the pins (im hoping for the latter) Any or All help will be much appreciated on this matter. Thanx in advance of any help Gary

The ribbon cable goes underneath the gold strips for sure... I have fixed many DS Lites and that is your problem... if you have bent any of theose copper strips then you have more problems. By doing what you did with the LCD and not covering the backs you may have blown fuse 2, or less likely fuse 1, I would try repairing or testing those fuses and I am sure you will find the problem and have your console back and working in no time. If not then see my website www.videogamerepairs.co.uk for details and send it to me!

L1Cupid..I believe I read earlier that they need to go over the connector not under, if I find where I read that again I will post it for you, good luck

My ds lite won't charge.. the orange light appeared blinked

We had this problem with a brand new DS Lite...turns out it was a bad charger. If you have access to another charger, try that first. Good luck!

When i power on my ds lite my green light turns on then turns rite bcak off and when I attach the charger it does the same thing.... What/s wrong with it?

Does the orange light come on when you plug it in? If it does, then it is a failure of either the DS's BIOS or its Memory. If the orange light doesn't come on, then the AC adapter is broken.

You can get a new adapter fairly easily, but it isn't worth trying to fix a BIOS or hardware issue.

If it's a fairly new DS, contact Nintendo's Customer Service, and see if they'll replace it.

Nintendo ds wont charge

cheekiemunke,

First of all, your DS Lite is charging both ways.....with power on and without power on.
You have for almost 99% sure a blown fuse F2 on the systemboard.
If you can solder you can try to replace it with a new one but be adviced, it is tricky if you don't have the skills with soldering SMD components and it can send your DS lite to the trash.
So my advice is find someone that repair DS Lites or order a fuse on eBay and try it yourself.

Ds lite ac wall charger

When you first get the DS it will have a bit if charge on it but only a few hours worth. When the DS charges it usally comes up with a orange/red ish light then that goes out about a few hours later when its charged. ad if you want to chek if it is charging correcly turn the DS on whilst it is charging and the little battery simble in the top right corner should show the battery carging.

Not charging

Quite honestly...

I know that this is probably not the answer you guys want to hear about this issue...

You're going to have to contact Nintendo and make good on your warranty on this one. Just tell them that the unit is no longer charging and that you 'don't know why'. They should have no real problem replacing it for you.

This is most likely an internal electronics issue that no expert here is going to be able to advise on.

Unfortunately the internet still isn't good enough that we can do solder jobs over our internet connections. :P

=THIS IS NOT A PROPOSED FIX. DO NOT RATE ME FOR IT=
Otherwise, if you wish to persist in trying to fix your problem, the only thing that I can tell you is to either try using someone else's charger adapter, buy a new adapter OR use an adapter that works and hold it at different positions in the DS Lite to see if any position will charge it. If you are succesful at charging it in this manner then the port you plug the charger into may be loosened.

===DO NOT RATE ME FOR THIS POST. IF YOU GIVE ME A POOR RATING FOR THIS POST I WILL DISPUTE IT WITH THE FIXYA STAFF AND ASK THAT IT BE REMOVED. I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM BUT AM GIVING YOU ADVICE ON WHAT YOUR BEST BET IS. I WILL however accept a GOOD rating if it is given - naturally. LOL===

Cyryl
