    My NV-DS50 is not seen by my pc, XP or Vista. Installed the manufacturers disk, rebooted, rebooted with camcorder plugged in and not and still NOTHING. Please please help

    I use firewire for dv video but want to use the usb webcam feature. MSN doesn't recognize the device with the driver that windows downloads when I connect the camera via usb. I can't find my original disk and can't find the driver anywhere on panasonic's website.

the usb cable is only for pictures and use is like still cameras, if you need capture video use fire wire cable to connect a computer that need have a fire wire slot. if your pc don't have one buy fire wire card and install on your pc

PC wont see my Panasonic NV-DS50
Generally when you connect the camera via USB Windows XP and Vista activate native drivers and the camera becomes visible under "My Computer" (XP) or "Computer" (Vista) as a removable drive. However, probably will not be visible by capture software. In that case you would need to use a DV interface cable otherwise known as firewire and have the camcorder in playback mode.
