Hi, there may be a problem with the alternator or possibly a short in the truck. Do you have a voltmeter, or is there one in the dash? Voltage at the battery should be at least 14 volts with engine idling. If not or you don't have a voltmeter, remove the alternator and have it tested at your local parts chain. If you need instructions for removing the alternator or have any questions, please let me know. If the alternator checks out good, please get back to me for steps to find a short in the car. Thanks for using FixYa.

Sounds like a problem with the governor. Start it up. Don't engage the blades. Drive to a hill. Idle all the way down. Try driving up the hill. The motor should pick up when it slows while pulling up the hill. If it doesn't, the governor isn't working right.

Truck dies when i stop or slow down

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle rough idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve (IAC for short), they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer, no choice. They told me that it is the engine. Didn't want to hear that, but I guess I have no choice.
