Check the two antenna wires on the garage opener itself. Loose (or missing) wires means no reception. If the wires are missing, add 2 feet of speaker wires, or even old "lamp cord" wires, just hanging down from the opener will regain reception. (Ps... I am assuming you already tried putting new batteries in both the remote and the keypad).

The hand held divice stopped working and the mounted pad light flashes quickly. The mounted pad does work.

The most likely problem here is that your wall control is bad. I would disconnect the 2 wires going to it and I think you will find your remote works. Replace the wall control.

Wall mount button LED is flashing, remotes won't work, door won't close unless the wall mount button is held down until the door is fully closed

Sounds like you have a couple problems. First of all press and hold the button on the wall control that has a lock icon for 3 seconds and release. This should take care of the flashing LED and the remotes will now work. Having to hold the button on the wall control until the door is closed is usually a problem with the door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each is lit and not flickering.

The garage key pad has stopped working

The most common problem for your situation is that the battery in your wallmounted key pad needs to be replaced. unscrew the little screw on the face of the device, remove the battery and replace it with one just like it. Radio shack usually has these batteries

My keypad works,my remote opener does not, even

It is related. One of the buttons on your wall control is the lock button and has a lock icon on it. Press and hold it for 3 seconds. The blinking should stop and your remote should now work.

Remote only closes the garage door, will not open it

Anytime a door opens and/or closes randomly or doesn’t work consistently I look for a smashed wire between the motor unit and the wall button.

If the wire is smashed the insulation becomes so thin that power will leak thru the insulation and activate the door or interfere with the remote signal.

Loosen the staples with a small screwdriver and slide the wire about ½ inch to move any areas of thin insulation away from the staples.

The second thing would be a bad wall button or a remote with a sticking button.
Or a remote in someone’s purse that gets the button pushed by other stuff in the purse.

The test is to disconnect the push button wires at the power unit. If the self operation / interference stops you have located the problem. If you reconnect the wires and disconnect the wire at the wall button this will tell you if the problem is the wire or the button.

In your case the expansion of the wall in the afternoon may be enough to cause pressure on the wire to increase the problem – works in the morning but not the afternoon.

Also after you change the batteries you need to reprogram the remotes.
