SOURCE: No heat, no flame, temperature based high heat

if the dryer doesn't shut off you need a new timer. have you replaced the igniter or glow coil? it needs to glow white not orange in order to ignite the gas.

No dryer heat

If the coils are bad the unit will light with flame for 4 - 8 times then all of a sudden the ignitor will glow, kick off with no gas coming threw valve. it sounds like the high limit thermostat is short cycling the flame. This is the thermostat that sits on top of the burner chamber. remove 1 screw from the thermostat and blend it upwards away from the heat. Then plug unit back in and test to see if the flame stays on longer. Click here to see maytag dryer no heat posts. Contact me anytime here. Hope this helps..

LG5791XSWO

The symptom you have indicates weak solenoid coils. The gas valve should open and the burner should ignite every time the glow bar igniter glows before it fades back off. Weak solenoid coils will usually open the gas valve until the solenoids become hot from the current and flame and then they don't have enough power to open the gas valve.

Replace both solenoid coils and your dryer will most heat and operate normally again. In order to access and replace the solenoid coils you will need to remove the front panel.

Here is the coil kit to order.

For whirlpool duet GGW 9250 PW0 GAS DRYER How do you know if the gas solenoid are bad? I check the resistance as per manual and its within its limit. It ignites and flames come out but the flame only...

The gas valve solenoid coils work when cool that's why the resistance reading is within the limit but fail when heated. Bypass the thermostat on the burner funnel and if the flame still goes out too soon, the coils are weak and both must be replaced. The resistance reading is reliable only when the dryer does not heat at all or shall we say the flame does not go on at all and the purpose is to check the continuity of the coil.

Model LG8219W2 On initial start up igniter turns on and flame is ok, after heats up and cycles the flame does not reignite,I can see the igniter glow red but flame does not return. the igniter contiues...

HI. This will essentially be an issue that concerns the gas valve coils. With that said, I will post below a complete burner assembly procedure that will help you isolate the culprit. I'm sure that the coils will fail the test, but to be safe, follow the procedure to confirm.

Gas valve/Burner testing procedure:

On the gas valve are one or two coils (solenoids) used to open and close the valve to control the flow of gas. If a coil fails, gas will not flow and the dryer will have no heat.

The easiest way to diagnose a problem in the burner assembly is to observe the burner operation. Remove the small access panel at the bottom, front of the dryer, select a high temperature setting and start the appliance. Watch the burner assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should begin to glow. Next you should hear the click of the gas valve coil and a flame should ignite. The flame should be mostly blue and it should remain on for a minute or more.

If the ignitor glows for several seconds (up to 15 seconds) and then goes out, the problem is probably the coils (solenoids). If the ignitor glows and stays on, then the problem is usually the flame sensor. If it ignites and then quickly goes out, it is most likely a problem with inadequate air flow.Test the coil for resistance using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X10. Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should change from a reading of infinity to roughly 1300 ohms (+/- 150 ohms) when the probes touch the terminals. If the reading is infinity or substantially different from 1300 ohms, the solenoid should be replaced.

Click Here to access a exploded diagram of the burner assembly. The affected coils will be labeled number 15 and 10. The actual coil and valve assembly will be labeled number 11 and the burner will be labeled number 9

Glgq332as3 no flame, i replaced both coils, i only get ignitor to glow for few secs. thermal fuse has cont. reads ok. what else should i check

The flame sensor located on the side of the heat canister may be opening too soon.
The ignitor, although it is glowing, may be took weak to open the valve coils.

Looking for information on a Kenmore gas dryer 70 series, model #77732791

The gas assembly is accessed by droping the kickplate/bottom panel. If the fuse mounted by the control klixon onthe blower housing has continuity then the control klixon will send power to the gas assembly when the drum temp drops below 105f. The thermostat/klixon will allow the power to remain on till the drum temp reaches around 160f. Then it will open and shut down the gas assembly and the drum continues to rotate untill the air drops below 105f and again the gas assembly gets power. When power is applied to the gas assembly it goes through the flame sensor to the ignitor and solenoid/coils. The ignitor draws so much power it is imposible for those solenoid/coils to open and discharge gas so when the flame sensor detects 1800f from the ignitor it kills power to the ignitor and that gives power to those coils. The gas comes out and hits the screaming hot ignitor. and whoosh you have fire. The fire only remains on till the temp reaches 160f and that does not take all that long. The constant cycling insures even heating so what can go wrong on this beast? Any component I just mentioned that is open (no continuity ) will be the problem. Now if the gas dryer works but then quits and works some more then replace those operator solenoid/coils. They can become intermittant with age.

Flame does not cycle on Gas Dryer

This problem is caused by faulty gas valve coils. These electrical coils are right above the gas valves and when energized, these solenoids open the gas valves. It is recommended that if any of the gas valve coils are suspected of fault, that they both (all) be changed at once. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool Dryer LGQ9508PW0 flame comes on and shuts off after 30 seconds.

this might actually be normal, whats the complaint??? to long to dry clothes maybe 2-3 cycles??? would be a common complaint. in which id check to make sure vent is not clogged anywhere, especially where exiting the home if he venting is ok id replace the coils atop the gas valve, possible and common for that matter that after running for 20-30 min they do not reopen and dont allow flem to reignite... part number 279834 retails for about $20 easy enough repair.... reason for flame to go on and turn off after only 30 secs is that in an empty dryer 30 secs of heat may be enough to satisfy the thermostat, that's alot of heat for an empty dryer, it would remain on for longer with a load of wet clothes absorbing the heat
