If you have time, you would project your film onto a screen, and use a video camera to capture the show. Likely, you will get rather poor quality.
When professionally done, each frame is captured separately and made into a video. Better quality, but it takes a bunch of equipment that's expensive.

Costco is great at this. Their price is good and service fast. My boss did a few boxes of film with them about a year ago.

How can I convert my 8mm tapes to a digital format and save to my hard drive?

If you have DVD Recorder then hook your Video-8 camera in analog AV input and burn a DVD, this will convert analog video/ audio signal of camcorder in digital format and transfer the data on DVD as well. Put that dvd in computer and save it in computer.

I have an old Bell & Howell projector and I can't find how to remove/replace the bulb. It is a Regent 8mm Deisgn 122. Any help would be apprecited.

These guys obviously have something to sell. PLEASE DON'T THROW YOUR MOVIE PROJECTORS AWAY. DVD-R has a useful life of about 5 years at best.

To answer the question posted: As the bulb ages, the extreme heat causes a bulge in the glass and that's why the bulb won't slide down. The only option is to tap the top of the bulb with a screwdriver (or similar instrument) and shatter it--then unscrew the housing and let the mess fall out. Be sure to protect yourself from shards! Once you clean up the mess you can install a new bulb (DAR, I believe).

Once you see the rich gradations color of real film (even 50 year old film), you'll be hooked!
