If the subs you have are 2 ohm DVCs, that usually means each voice coil is 2 ohms. Putting the DVCs in parallel will make the sub 1 ohm, which is beyond the capability of the amp (which is only stable down to 2 ohms per channel). Putting each subs DVCs in series (for a total of 4 ohms per channel) will at least allow the amp to operate properly, even though you will not be able to maximize the output power.

Halving the impedance will draw twice the current. You could technically get a 3 Db more power since the peak voltage will remain the same. BUT if the magnet structure is not intended to use that cone design, the magnet difference MAY not give you 2 ohms.

In fact, if the designed magnetic flux were smaller, you could wind up with a 1 ohm speaker.

trying to get that much power is really kind of silly as even 50 watts with efficient speakers will exceed safe levels of sound that will not cause damage to your ears.

As you push an amp up in power, usually distortion will increase as well.

SOURCE: I have an Audiobahn A8000T amp and 2 12

First of all your ******** shouldn't be running that many watts to two 12" cvr's. I have one in the specially insulated and plastic ported box that kicker made exactly for that sub. I'm running 850 watts to it and the peak on it is only 800, and i cant even turn the amp more than half way up. So pretty much you wanted help trying to figure out what to do, well here it is get another ******* amp with less wattage and a 2 channel amp *******.

I hooked up my 2 dvc 12in subs to 1100 w interfire ib2900c 2ohm stable amp..however after hooked up subs make very loud bababababa sound when turned on ..what don i do to fix this?

It's in your rca lines or you are missing or don't have good enough ground to your amplifier or CD player. To check this simply unplug your RCA's at the radio it's your radio. If it dosent it's in your rcas

I have a sony xm-2002gtw and i want to know if i can hook two 2-ohm dual subwoofers up to this amp and how i have 2 solo baric 12-inch.

200W x 2 @ 4 Ohm
500W x 1 @ 4 Ohm

This amplifier cannot handle a load lower than 4 Ohms in stereo or bridged mode.

If the subs are Dual 2 ohm - You cannot wire a 4 ohm load with (2) subwoofers.

Only 8, 2, or 1/2 ohm loads are possible with (2) dual 2ohm voicecoils

Thanks!

Soundstream rub 500-1 mono....

U need to make sure your subs are wired correctly. And u need to make sure all your speakers are at the same ohm load. If u hook up two subs on one channel and two more on the other one u need to make sure that your subs are all 2ohm or 4ohm subs cause if u got two 4ohm subs ran parrallel then u will have a 2ohm setting and if both of them are 2ohm subs them your load will be a 1ohm load witch could harm your amp unless its an 1ohm stable amplifier.

I have two 15inch l7 subs 2ohm

With 2 ohm dvc a sub can output either a 1 or 4ohm load.therefore with 2 subs you end up with 2ohm or 8ohm load.Of course you'll use the 2ohm connection which is this.....

Take one sub and connect the (-) with the other (-) and the (+) with the (+).
Do the same with the other sub. Each sub now carries out a 1ohm load and you end up with 2 pairs of cable. Now take one(+)and put it on the amp.Take the (-) from the OTHER pair(this is critical) and connect it on the amp.You will still have a(-) from the first pair and a (+) from the other pair!Well....connect them together!!!Thus you'll have a 2 ohm load on the amp!

huge shared common space slot loaded box (size depends on sub 10", 12" 15" you need to clarify that please) the amp specs on earthquakes site say the phd5000 is rated at a max output of 5k watts at 1 ohm 3k watts at 2 ohm so, with 3 dvc 2 ohm subs you only have 3 options of which only 2 will be a usable solution:

1. 3- 2ohm dvc series at sub parralel at amp = about 1.33 ohms at the amplifier this is the best option to get the most power to the subs as each sub will produce a 4 ohm load then wire each one to the amp the amp sees 3 4 ohm parralel loads which = 1.33 ohm so based on the amp specs you would be close to 1200 watts per sub.

2. 3- 2ohm dvc wired in series at sub and all 3 subs series wired together very difficult to wireand will give you a 12 ohm load which is next to no power at all (not a viable solution)

3. 2- 2ohm dvc parralel wired to each other and then at amp the amp sees a 1 ohm load and makes 5k watts max but you can only (REREAD THAT LINE! ONLY USE 2 SUBS IN THIS WAY) WHICH GIVES THE MOST POWER BUT ONLY USES 2 SUBS

2 ohm dvc and monoblock sub amp

Yes. When you run two-two ohm subs to a monoblock amp its on the same channel meaning there ran parallel, and that makes it one ohm and most mono-blocks won't read one ohm. Are you popping fuses in the amp?

Hooking up DVC subs

The amp is rated to run a 2 ohm load on each channel. To do this, connect the voice coils of one sub in parallel (tie both "+" on the sub to each other and both "-" on the sub to each other), then connect that sub to one channel of the amp. Repeat this process for the other sub and connect it to the other channel on the amp. The subs will be in stereo and the amp will be outputting it's maximum power.

I don't know why you'd set the Peavey to 2 ohm to drive 8 ohm speakers??? My other thought is... I wonder if the phase is correct. try reversing one of the speaker wires Left or right side.
