SOURCE: dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm?

I would suggest you go with the 4ohm. It won't be a loud but it will be more stable. You will be less likely to blow up your amp with the 4ohm.

SOURCE: ohm wiring

This depends on the ratings of the Amp. Check the docs for your amp. My Alpine will go as low as 2 ohms. The lower you go, the hotter your amp will get, so be aware of that. I actually had to mount a 12v fan next to mine to keep an air flow going over it. The thermal override was tripping.

SOURCE: amp 4 a Kicker S17L7

just make sure your kenwood amp can at least handle a 2ohm stereo load. Most amps now are able to .Your amps manual should list this or go online and check for that model .You basically have 2 subs in one allowing you to use one sub box in stereo mode. And just hook it up like two speakers left and right ..make sure amp has a crossover so that you only get bass at your woofer

SOURCE: Blown subwoofers

Does the amp have an input 'clipping' LED? The worst thing for a speaker is to try and reproduce an unclean signal. Just make sure not to overdrive the amps input. You might also purchase higher rms rated speakers. As far as the ground is concerned, paint and/or oil, rust etc have been cleared from contact area, correct? Seems like if ground were insuffecient, power to amp would drop out.

What amp should I use?

Yes they information available on them they are still around. You will need a class-D 300 watt RMS amp to run them at perfect power if i remember right they are 150 watt RMS,, 450 watt max per sub.// just never mind the max it means nothing. They are a 4 ohm sub i believe so you would want to get a 1 ohm stable amp. two 4 ohm subs can be run at 1 ohm wired in series. they are actually made by audio vox corp.to wire them is easy ill give a link to do so easy to use. and handy. let me look for some info on your sub...? Yes there is info out there here is another link. Need additional help give a shout.

I am trying to hook up 3 kicker subs with a pyle 1400 watt amp in my 98 Eddie Bauer explorer and i am not sure how to do it because it has the stock amp in the back passenger quarter panel

First off, you won't be able to do this with a Pyle amp. Pyle amps are only 2 ohm stable (at best). When you do a 3 sub set up (assuming that they are all single 4 ohm voice coil), you will get either a 1.33 ohm load (way to low for that amp and will fry it quick), or you will get 12 ohms (hardly worth hooking up because of the lack of power).

Now say you have dual 4 ohm subs. You will still have the same problem going even lower than the 1.33 ohm or 6 ohms.

My recommendation is either do a 2 sub set up or get a better amp.

I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's true.

I just bought an 800RB (been WANTING one for DECADES, finally put "cash-on-hand" together with "the SWEET one came along"). I want to know if the speaker jacks for the 300-watt amp are...

Here is the schematic AND everything you need to know about the speakers:

http://elektrotanya.com/gallien-krueger_800rb_sm.pdf/download.html

Scroll down to "Get Manual" on the site and click on it to download. It appears that the MINIMUM impedance on the trebel upper set is 8 ohms and MINIMU on the woofer is 4 ohms at the jack in each case.

I have a amp with switch that says high power & high current

The ohms rating measures the electrical resistance of the subs(impedance). On the subs there is usually a label that tells you what the impedance is for that particular sub, example= 4 ohms . The only way you can get to a 1 ohm load or less with a pair of tens is if each sub has dual voice coils that are 4 ohms each wired in parallel. Generally Sony xplod's are a single coil 4 ohm woofer-yours might be the exception in this case .To figure out your resistance say with 2 subs that are 4 ohms you have to know how you intend to wire them for instance if your amp puts out a fair amount of power @2 ohms and thats the number you want to hit than you will want to wire the subs in parallel( + to + and - to -) wiring in parallel lowers the resistance.(ohms) If you want to hit 1 ohm and you have dual 4 ohm coils then wire all 4 coils in parallel and that will then be a 1 ohm load. Its simply a matter of dividing the ohms by the number of speakers that you intend to connect. if you had 3 10s that were 4 ohms each and you wired them in parallel the ohms would be 1.33 (as 4 divided by 3 is 1.33)(4 divided by 2 is 2) (4 divided by 4 is 1) On the flip side wiring in series will raise your impedance-a pair of 4 ohm subs wired in series gives you an 8 ohm load 3 subs gives you 12 ohms and so on. I wouldnt worry about the high current switch unless youre planning on taking it down below 1 ohm which it sounds like you arent currently set up for.

Jl audio 300/4 low ohms light wont go off

If the low ohms light is on then you have your speakers wired to low. I need to know some more info like what type of speakers you have running on this amp and how many. Also was it working before and then it started doing this? Check the ohms with a volt meter if you know how, if not just get a volt/ohm meter and set it to the ohms setting and then take the positive(red probe) and touch it to the positive terminal on the speaker and then the negative(black probe) to the negative terminal and see what it reads. Make sure you check how low in ohms your amp is capable of handling. If you don't know just google the model of your amp and you will find a site that has a manual or just go to JL audios web site and you should find out there with no problem. Let me know what you find so I can assist you more if need be cause I also repair amplifires for a living and have many years experienc and I'm the cheapest amp repair business you will find any where. Good luck

Buying an amplifier

First lets start with how to run your speakers, If you are running all three speakers then you need to wire them in a series so all three of them are a 4ohm load. you can achieve this by taking the first speaker and running the (+) to the amp, then take the (-) and run it to the (+) on the next speaker, then take the (-) and run it to the (+) on the third speaker, then take the remaining (-) and run it to the amp. Now as far as an amp goes you can pretty much pick any amp you want now and not have to worry about overheating since you are running a 4 ohm set-up.

I have boss amplifier can i use flush speakers of any other brand

Hi....

You can use any brand but you need to be careful about how you connect the speakers....Say if theyre 8 ohms and you put 2 in parallel
then they equal 4 ohms etc.
If you put two 8 ohm in series they'll equal 16 ohms.
I would go to EV's website for more on speaker connections

General ?

they are dual 2 ohm all L7 are 2 voice coil per speaker so it is like 2 speakers not 1 the dual 2 ohm version is so you can use 2 speakers wired in series to get a 2 ohm load 2 ohms + 2 ohms = 4 ohms then parralel the 2 at the amp to cut it in half to get 2 ohms. I have full warranties on mine and i dont really sell alot of them any way I prefer the hifonics they sound better last alot longer and take way more power and put out 3 times as much sound. but i can check it out if you have the info.
