Bottom freezer has stopped freezing. Unable to locate even a temperature control for it. Help.

SHOULD BE IN THE FREEZER, BUT SOMETIMES IT IS IN THE BACK ALONG THE WALL, IN THE BACK AT THE BOTTOM NEAR THE COMPRESSOR, IN THE FRONT AT BOTTOM AND OR IN THE FRIDGE ITSELF? HAVE U CHECKED THE AIR FLOW CONTROL KNOB?

I cannot understand the dual thermostat manual (" rolling " knob type) controls . They are printed in Japanese . There are 2 temp. control knobs side by side located inside the ref. compartment / lowe

Don't think it's the temp control problem, I suspect one on the defrost elements at the top is faulty, if food starting to defrost in the cycle indicates the lower element is working overtime.

My brand new Samsung SR215 fridge freezes ice cream rock hard irrespective of the freezer setting - its currently on 1, I think it the 'freezer thermostat' may be faulty. Your opinion would be...

You maybe right but before suspecting the thermostat control, test it by varying to the higher number.
If still rock hard the freezer and you already change the control then it is already the culprit.Replace it with similar size and rating so it doesn't hazzle when it's time to change for replacement.
Good luck.

Does the single temperature control guage affect both, freezer and

check in the freezer section for a knob to control the freezer. Turn this knob back to center and return refrigerator setting to 5. What is happening is the freezer control is just a baffle that divides the air flow into the fresh food and freezer section. If the freezer knob is turn to 1 or cold it is sending all the cold air into the refrigerator, then when you turn down the actual cold control, the system isn't allowed to run long enough to allow the freezer to stay frozen.

Freezer compartment of refrigerator not freezing

First, I think it’s important to know that the Ref side has no cooling coils, it’s basically a box and the cold air in the freezer is blown over by a fan through a channel into the Ref side. This channel has a door which regulates how much cold air goes through. You probably have two control knobs in the Ref side, one controls the temp with numbers 1-9, 9 being the coldest. This temp control tells the compressor how long to run. The other control is for that little door and it may have letters A-E, E being the coldest. If you set it on E (coldest) then this will close that little door and keep most the cold air in the freezer.
So, how can the Ref side be cold and the freezer side not freezing?

1. Coolant leak. There is enough coolant to keep the Ref side cool but not enough to freeze on the freezer side.

2. Defrost system failure. The coils on the freezer side are clogged with ice and it's just a matter of time when the Ref side won't cool either. The back wall in the freezer will be covered with ice/frost

Fridge too warm

first, verify that the fan is running in the freezer compartment. second check that there is no airflow blockage between freezer compartment and refrigerator compartment. if that does'nt solve the issue verify the defrost system is working.
