I bought this remote to work with the freeview + box DTR-Z500HD and need to programme this remote to the TV but as there is no setup button I can't work out how to do it.

Tip: The max point reward for answering a question is 15.
Go to your on screen menu under dtr settings and format the hard drive. If you have been recording the hard drive may be full and some programs need to be deleted to allow more recording space. You may also unplug the unit for several minutes and use the reset box option.
Select the AV input manually via the TV remote. The scart lead may not be switching the TV automatically (if you have two scarts on the Freeview box, then try the other scart socket).
Are you using the freeview tuner, I only ask as it looks like your having a similar problem that I had a few months back. I moved into a new house and plugged in the tv. Using the freeview tuner I wasnt able to get any channels. It turned out although the aerial picked up regular analogue tv it wasnt the correct aerial for freeview.
My version is actually DTR 67500T but I did not realise that you had recorded a different model !! until too late.The shop replaced it with another box
maybe a defragged hard drive follow this procedure:
1. Select Menu, Set-Up, Help. 2. Press the Green button on the remote control. 3. This shows the Advanced Information screen. 4. Now press the Blue button which will prompt you with a warning box. 5. Now press the Green button if you wish to proceed. 6. The DTR will take around a minute to complete the reformat, and will then automatically restart itself.
Next do a channel rescan.
Pop open remote case you will need knife or thin steel ruler to do this. Clean the board contacts and the conductive pads with switch cleaner or isopropyl alcolhol cleaner and you will find it will work fine.
I have one of these boxes and one of the things which has caught me out a couple of times is that the remote can control three devices. To turn the Z250 on and off you may need to press the DTR button at the top of the remote first. When you press the on/off button on the remote the DTR button should light up red to let you know the signal is being sent to the Z250.

Hi Ive just bought a thomson dtr box and the picture keeps freezing .new arial new cable etc.well ive just tried a £20 freeview box and its fine good clear picture and dosnt freeze.I had a good signal when using the thompson box and its the box load of rubbish taking it back to shop.
Same problem with Channel 71 CBeebies. Tried rescanning which worked initially for a few weeks but it's back and rescanning does not fix the problem now.
