If you are asking about your dishwasher I am going to guess you mean decibel level. Decibels refer to how loud the sound is. If you are interested in knowing about how loud your machine is, 45 decibels is pretty silent while 50-60 is about a normal conversation level and the average dishwasher machine is 52 dB. A vacuum cleaner is about 70.

If you have a smartphone with android software you can download an app that measures decible level you can use to compare. I dought you will find any manufacture data with decible level since it varies from machine to machine. Where it is installed in your house also plays a role too.

This type of calibartion is known as a logarithmic scale.
The numbers refer to decibels below the maximum output of the amplifier section of the reciever, or decibels of attenuation (making smaller/quieter).

Without going through logarithim theorey, the logarithim (base 10) of 1 is 0. So if 1 is the maximum output of the amp, as you turn the knob down from maximum you are adding more and more attentuation to the output (relative to maximum) and so the loudness of what you hear goes down, even though the number on the scale is going up !

Opened up the door (6 or so screws on the inside door) thinking it was the latch switch, however I noticed a large blue component dislodged from its solder hoot (single sided PCB). Pushed the lead back in and re soldered it. Saved a lot of money and time on a new controller.

I'm assuming you mean the color coat on the modesty panel. If you've replaced the panel and this is still happening, you have a problem with moisture getting to the edge of the panel, I'm guessing. Get a new one. Go to the paint aisle of a hardware store and get a can of clearcoat. Clean the panel with some mineral spirits and carefully paint it. Include the edges.
