The machine you're talking about isn't indicated. However, when the motor is locked it is trying to run the needle and feed dogs at the same time that it is trying to wind the bobbin. This cannot be done simultaneously.
*** The place where you place the bobbin must be set firmly against the bobbin.
***Some newer digital systems still need the hand wheel to be released by hand. (Turn it, push or pull it)

I have a Janome 6260QC it shows an error code of two reversed brackets. what does that mean,

If the symbol looks like ] [, then this isn't generally an error message. The machine is in bobbin wind mode. Move the bobbin winder spindle to the left. If the spindle is all the way to the left, then you have a problem with the bobbin winding mechanism below the bobbin winder spindle slot. The sewing machine isn't correctly getting the message of where the spindle is.

The Janome 6260 Quilter's Companion manual is available from Janome. The current link is https://www.janome.com/siteassets/support/manuals/retired/computer/inst-book-6260qc.pdf . See page 11 (13 of the PDF).

I hope this helps.

My baby lock lock up while sewing the needle want move up and down it is a grace it says error 6 can you help me thank you

Sewing Machine: Needle won't move
A disengaged clutch, broken drive belt or internal drive gear failure can prevent the needle from moving. Engage the hand wheel clutch if you have it disengaged for bobbin winding. If the needle won't move with the clutch engaged, unplug the sewing machine and check the drive belt.

How to Fix Brother Sewing Machine Error Code E6 Q: What does E6 error message mean? A: The motor locked up because thread is tangled Q: How to fix E6 error message? A: Do the following:
  • The upper thread could be tangled. Remove the upper thread and any loose threads. Raise the pressure foot, raise the needle to its highest position and rethread the machine.
  • Remove the bobbin and bobbin case to clean any lint or loose threads. Install the bobbin case so that the projection on it aligns with the spring. Then install the bobbin into the bobbin case.
  • The needle could be bent. Replace the needle making sure the flat side is facing the back.

WHY??!! *Check if thread is entangled. Check if needle is bent. So far as I can tell everything is fine, used new bobbin, new needle, still getting error. How do I know if the motor has become locked

Time to take it in and have the repair tech service & clean upper tension assembly. When you clip/ change threads be sure not to pull the thread back out of tension assembly. Snip thread at spool, raise foot to release tension and then pull the short thread out from the needle. The Automatic tension is very delicate and pulling thread out backwards can cause thread/lint build up and problems like your having. Sal the Sewing Gal

Trying to wind the bobbin on my singer 6268 but the thread keeps winding under the bobbin. What am I doing wrong?

if the bobbin winder is driven of the end of the machine then you may have to guide the thread as it winds onto the bobbin
if you are allowing the thread to come directly from the reel and it is not in line to the bobbin then what you have is what will happen

I have a brother ES-2000 sewing machine. My bobbin winder stopped working due to disintegrated bobbin winder tire. I just replaced the tire. When I try to wind a bobbin, it spins for a few seconds and...

you may need to take it in for repair. Try spinning your winder spindle. It is possible the spindle has seized and the motor is trying to work to hard to spin it. If it is seized you could try some natural lubricator or WD But you would need to make sure you don't spray any on any other parts other then the metal spindle itself....Hope this helps

Winding the bobbin

sometimes with older machines you need to add a little tension on the thread your winding from with your finger. It sounds like its coming off the spool too fast to keep up with bobbin winding.

Singer Futura 350

Dear Wendy,

The E4, error message means the safety device is activated. Machine is locked up due to thread entangled with the bobbin case. Remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Check for any thread around the hook area. Also check your handwheel. It should turn freely. Good Luck

Cannot wind the bobbin

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!
