The lock function was added to elimimiate the danger of someone sticking there body parts inside machine (they can kill a human or pet) while its operating this is a safety function and really should not be bypassed unless in very special uses , this function used to be done by a lid switch that shut power off to machine , the lid lock now is easy to disengage just press the stop button in as soon as machine stops moving the the lid should unlock allowing you to open it to Add/remove items , I do warn folks that if any items are added after fill step the auto water level sensor has already made its calculation of needed water so what's in there after more clothes are added will not have sufficient water level to clean properly resulting in disappointed washing results

How to bypass a six wire lid lock?

Never bypass lid locks in the same way you wouldn't expose the wires in your mains household fuse box, or remove the guard from a fan or circular saw. They were fitted after a child put his arm into a top loader as it was spinning and had his arm torn off. Mother sued the company and won. All makers fitted locks.

Just buy a new one and fit it. Google

I have whirlpool washer model number WTW4950XW0 The lid lock switch is broke has4 wires how do I bypass it please

The lid lock is there for safety. It prevents someone from being injured by the spinning tub when they open the lid.

Instead of bypassing the switch, I recommend you replace it with part W10404050. One source is https://www.partselect.com/PS3497627-Whirlpool-W10404050-Lid-Latch-Assembly.htm . The part comes with the wires attached. See https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model/30yu3k9y9x-001198/whirlpool-wtw4950xw0-washer-parts for some of the parts diagrams.

I hope this helps.

Whirl pool cabrio how to bypass lid lock

You can't bypass the lid locks on the cabrio models. You can but you have to do some special wiring and add a toggle switch which you have to flip on and off everytime you use the washer, its much simpler and cheaper to just replace the lid lock assembly. You can get them cheap on ebay see the listings linked below:

Kenmore top loading washer locking lid switch bypass

Yes. Snip the wires at both sides of the switch. Then fuse the wires together with electrical tape. But before you do that...you state it's a 2011 model? It should still be under warranty.

Locking mechanism

replace the lid lock ! its a safety measure. I would not recommend removing or bypassing lid lock. just replace it. without the lid lock it will work with lid open. good-day ! if you really what to bypass the lid lock. Find the wire that goes to the switch. Splice the wires together and the machine will think the lid is shut all the time. if you can not get top of washer off. just call an appliance center and give them the model and serial number. and they should be able to tell you. good-day !
