Can't run a CD-ROM. Getting error 1005 on .x32 files. The CD won't even read. Do I need to download some drivers?

It should be availble for free download from either the Dell website or the LG website. Just follow links for support and downloads.

* the CD-ROM drive is reading incorrectly,
* the CD-ROM is scratched, and thus cannot be read 100% correctly,

if there error appeared while windows copying files then disc OS or the DVD ROM might be faulty. Try to test first the ODD if it is faulty. Use the drivers and utilities cd from dell to test the DVD ROM. If DVD ROM reads fine the drivers disc then try the OS disc to a different computer if it can load vista files. if not the OS disc has the problem. If no issues with OS disc and DVD Rom then it might be the HDD.

Sounds as though you may need to reinstall the driver for the laptop's cdrom drive. The easiest way I've found to do this is to download it directly from the manufacturer's web site; In your case, look here:

Download the file to your desktop (file name is sp30367.exe), and run the installation to reinstall & update the DVD/CD-ROM drivers.
