Walmart sold me RCA Digital TV Converter & Recorder Box DTA880 TO GO WITH MY ANALOG TV COMBO- MWC24T5B. WHEN I SCAN FOR CHANNELS, I GET NOTHING. DID THEY SELL ME THE WRONG CONVERTER BOX. IT WAS $54 FOR THE CONVERTER BOX. Also, the outside antenna wire I have to hook to is a two prong antenna wire. The antenna plug in the back of this TV is like a cable plug in. I have one adapter that will work, but am using it in another room. I haven't found another adapter anywhere as of yet. Thank you for your help.

The DIgital signal coming out of the conveter box cannot be recorded with a vcr, as they are analog. I am currently using a switch & switching between analog (rabbit ears) & digital conveter box, which I purchased at Walmart with the government coupon, for $10.00 -had to rig a UHF antenna ($45.00) up on my roof to pick up the digital signal, which dosn't travel as far as the old analog signals. With this switch I can record TV programs in analog, or switch to digital to watch programs. I can record 1 while watching something else. but after Feb. 17, the switch will be useless. I will need to buy a DVR recorder to record any programs at all. Since I can't afford cable TV, I certainly can't afford a DVR! I personally don't like this government-mandated switch to digitsl, as not everyone can afford to take advantage of the new digital signal. My current problem is, for some reason my universal remote (or any that I can find) won't program for my Magnavox converter box!

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.
assume the cable tv box represents the converter box
you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.
Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.
If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.
You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?
So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.
the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.
That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

You will need a splitter and an rf modulator to do timed recording of programs. The instructions are on the dtv answers website, option # 2, record and watch a different channel. The recording is for the analog stations 1-24. You cannot record the higher stations. The items I purchased were a 3 way splitter $7 at local hardware store, an rf modulator $25 at Radio Shack. The other option was to get a cable box for the tv and record off of that at $6.95 a month or a DVR for $8.99 per month, all from comcast. The price that I paid for the items I needed would be repaid in 3 months if I were to go the comcast route. The conversion is nothing more than a money making scheme for them.

Seeing as it does not have a digital tuner in it, I would think this would be the problem, you will have to get a box for it.
