Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS100 32" TV

Sony Wega KV-32FS100

Hello. The set, when turned on, goes to a white/snow screen, no signal, and it starts counting down (quickly) through numbers in the upper right corner. It just cycles through the numbers from 99 down to 1 and back through again. The remote does not function nor does pressing the front panel buttons, except when I press the volume up button on the front panel it will turn the set off. When I turn it back on it starts over again. Never seems to find a signal. If I repeatedly press the menu button I can get it to slow down and step through the channels. When I get to channel 3 the signal comes in from my Dish but no buttons work except the on/off on the front panel and the count down still shows.

Thanks for your help.
JM

I had the same problem and found out that it wasn't making a good connection inside the the Directv box.The box was changed and that solved the problem.

The standby light should be blinking in a repeated pattern. Pleawe count the blinks and report that number here. That count indicates the circuit that is having a problem. Also, please confirm that the set is model number KV-32FS100.

Thanks,

Digital tuner?

Good question, Mike. I wondered about my fs210 model, too, and I found the answer at a Sony tech-support site.

1. Go to: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DOCS
2. Enter your TV's model number, which, in this case, is: kv-32fs100 (and then click on Continue).
3. At the resulting page, under "Support by Type" in the left margin, click on "News & Alerts."
4. At the next page, click on: 04/02/2008: Critical: Is my Sony® television ready for the Digital TV (DTV) transition?
5. Your TV and mine are analog, but scroll down the page mentioned in #4, above, to see all of your options.

Consumers can determine whether any Sony TV is digital, just by entering the model number and following the steps listed above. ~ Kind regards, Gilda M. (replied 1/23/09)

That would depend upon the number of blinks and the specific model number. I am guessing that the model number is KV-32FS100. What is the blink count?

Sony tv wont start up???

The flashing should be a repeated number of blinks. Please post that count as that will indicate the circuit in which the set detected a problem. The set is in protective shutdown. Using hte blink count, we can determine the possible problem and solutions.
