I was driving and turned on the lights and it shut down completely. Now it won't turn anything on. I put in a new battery and it still won't do anything. It doesn't even light up the dash.
Check your fuses, and make sure your battery terminals will not move if you try to turn side to side and up or down with your hand. If

Fuses 1975-1993 240 ModelsThe main fuse box is located in the driver side kick panel and sufferes from a few design flaws. First, the fuse box is susceptible to corrosion from water that can enter the interior and drip directly onto the fuses. Second, the small contact area of the European ceramic style fuses also leads to corrosion due to electrolosis. Prevent numerous problems associated with the fuse box, by pulling all fuses and cleaning them annually. If you encounter a intermittent or no start issue on your 240, you can often get going again by simply spinning the fuses in their holders, which reestablishes electrical contact.
Though this might help, if you find a fuse to be the problem, I would have the alternator tested after you get it running since it died while running and you had to buy a new battery. Good luck, if you have any further questions I will be glad to answer
Thank you, i will give it a try!!

SOURCE: motor does not start when i turn on ignition
did u have the alternator tested to see output get a jump if the car starts takeit to a auto zone have him test the battery and alternator for free
SOURCE: issue with dash lights dimming while driving,
If the battery and alternator tested fine. I would have the charging system rechecked when engine is hot and at high rpm's. This way the checks are being done as if you were driving and driving for a long time. Alternators can work fine when cold but weaken when hot or stop working. This problem is not rare but only is seen occassionly. Unless it was checked at an electrical shop the average shop doesn't run these tests for they don't see the problem often enough to automaticly run them at all times. Good luck and let me know how you make out.
SOURCE: fully charged battery but no power getting to
First disconect battery then check you main fuse box under the hood. Test the fuses with a multimeter with the seting on ohms. each fuse should have continuity 0.00 if not you have a bad fuse that has no continuity replace them.
