The controller won't sync with the PS3 system, even when I plug the USB connector into the USB port on the console. The red lights on top of the controller are supposed to flash when the controller is synchronizing. However, the lights don't light up at all. I followed the instructions exactly as written, I put three AAA batteries in the controller, and I switched the controller on. Nothing works.

Hi, I did a system reset on my PS3 and now none of my controllers will not sync to console, Iv tried resetting controllers also. Could you help please ?

Make sure the controllers are plugged into the PS3 for initial use. Are the red LED lights flashing/lit. If not the battery may be dead. Can you borrow a friend's controller to make sure the controller ports are working correctly?

Sync ps3

Does the controller light up when plugged in? If so an previous update may have messed it up. If not it could be the controller or the usb port. Try another USB port or another controller. If neither one of those solutions work. Try to delete the previous update, and reupdate the console. Most likely it is the controller or the usb port is broken.

Hi I just moved plugged in my ps3 the red standby light came on and now nothing it won't even try to turn on what should I do ?

Sorry I had no idea you sent me this message until today. I apologize for the delay. You probably found a solution by now but if you haven't, please try this..

Solution:

  1. With the PS3 in Standby mode (Red light on), press and hold the Start button until you hear a single beep, followed by double beeps.
  2. Connect the controller using USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
  3. Now, the system restore screen (or whatever they call it) will come up like this

  4. You have several options here for restoring the system, some will unfortunately wipe up all your data, others will make you lose the file naming.
I hope this helps :D

Controller won't link to the ps3 middle button just flashes as if its trying to connect. I have connected the tab coors but still nothing works.

Is the controller completely charged? If it is, then try this
1) Manually turn on your PS3 using the power button on the PS3.
2) Take your USB charger for your controller and plug it into the USB port. (Do NOT turn on your controller yet!)
3) Plug the controller into the charger that is connected to the PS3 USB port.
4) Now turn on your controller using the middle "PS" button.

The lights will flash for a few seconds, and that will sync your controller to that particular PS3 system. This might help :D

My controllers wont sync to the ps3 or charge on it but they charge when i plug them into the PC. i had the "Maximum power reached" message thing plop up then my ps3 crashed and now they dont...

yea i have noticed my ps3 isn't charging stuff either it only does charge when its turned on im pretty sure theres a setting to charge while the ps3 is off To sync:
  • Connect the USB cable (provided with the controller) into the data USB port on the top of the controller. Insert the other end of the controller into one of the two USB ports on the front of the system.

  • Power on the television and the Sony PlayStation 3. You are going to see a series of lights flicker on the top of the wireless controller.
  • Press the PS3 button in the middle of the controller. This tells the gaming system it is connected. A single light appears on the controller.
  • Remove the gaming controller from the PS3. You can now use it wireless. It is also possible to remove the USB cable from the PlayStation if it is blocking your field of view.

How do you hook up a ps3 remote control to play games with the ps3 remote.

      1. Turn off your PS3 console and disconnect it from the power supply.

      2. 2

Insert the USB cable provided with your console into an open contoller port. The controller ports are found on the left side of the front of the PS3.

      3. 3

Insert the other end of the USB cable into the back of the wireless remote controller that you want to sync with the PS3.

      4. 4

Reconnect the power supply to the PS3 and turn it on. The wireless remote control should sync automatically with your console. If it does not begin automatically, press the "PS" button at the center of your controller. This will begin the process. Once the sync is complete, you can disconnect the USB cable and the controller will communicate with your PS3.

The controller will only connect if its plugged in a usb, if i disconnect it continually flashes all the lights and wont sync with the system?

Plus your controller in to the usb port in your ps3 once it connects press the PS button and it will sync and voila it's done. If you want to change it to a friend's console do the same with their console

Controller wont sync with the ps3. only

First make sure you are not too far from the PS3, if not, try plugging the controller into the USB port on the front, if still nothing, I don't know, try buying a new one.

The controller is not powering up with new batteries

If your controller does not power up then it is because it has not been synced to the console.

I do not know what system you have so I can not tell you how to do this.

For instance, If you have a Wii, you need to turn on the wii, open the battery cover on the controller. Press the little red button. Then open the little door on the wii where you put the memory card and hit that red button. that should connect the controller to the Wii.

    For Xbox 360:
    1) Turn on 360 (ring of light) and controller (Start or Guide button).
    2) Press the Connect button on the 360.
    3) Press the Connect button that's at the top of the controller, next to the slot for a charging cord.
    4) Everything spins and flashes, and syncs up.

    If you have PS3 then:

Plug your controller into the console with the usb cable, then hit the PS button. that will sync it to the PS3 then you can unplug it.

Hope this helps! Thanks for using Fixya!!
