Motherboard ID Dell Dimension 8200, pentium4, 2.5 GHz, 512K, 533 FSB Orig. purchase says - PLANAR(MOTHERBOARD)..850E, TRANSFORMER SKY DIVE MINITOWER.., DIMENSION.. Dell techs say - "Intel" 850E Intel Lists - 5E's D850MV D850MD D850GB D850EMV2 D850EMD2 I have phoenix BIOS so no identifier programs work. Please note that I bought this system in 2002 and it is still quite fast and reliabal. The board is capable of running @3 Ghz. I need to update AGP motherboard chipset drivers, IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers,etc.. Is "Planar" a company or is it a model number/name for an Intel MB?Does the "D" in the above list stand for "dimension", "dell", or "pentium D"?And what does MV, MD, GB, EMV2, & EMD2 stand for? Any input on the above items would be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Try running Belarc advisor to check the motherboard manufacturer.
Lots of companies use Intel chipsets

2 gygabytoes are usually the max, you could upgrade the OS to maybe Windows XP 64 bit, but this isn't worth it in such an olde machine! Throw it out and get yourself an ASUS laptop with Windows 7 64-bit, a solid state HD and 4 or more gigabytes of ram instead!.

What type of dual core processor can I use for my dc7600?


The motherboard for the dc7600 has an Intel LGA775 processor socket. However, not all LGA775 processors are compatible with the motherboard. For the small form factor, the following CPUs are supported: Intel Celeron D Processors:

Unfortunately, these are old processors and I don't see any available new. Newegg.com lists a couple available as refurbished. You may be better off getting a new computer with either a Intel I3 or current AMD processor.

Trying to find the Jumper that controls FSB on a dell dimension 8200. Either that or some form of overclocking software that will allow me to get the full 2.8 out of my P4

modern Boards Auto-Detect FSB speeds, usually determined By CPU fsb And Memory/Ram speeds. It may be Wise to see if theres A user manual/guide for this board. or a possible bios update to support the CPU. also check the boards fsb speed ratings charts. overclocking is not recommended, as this can damage cpu/ram and motherboard.

Motherboard blew up


I would recommend buying a replacement computer, and install the Dell IDE drive in an external 3.5" IDE hard drive enclosure. This way you can pull your information off the the Dell hard drive, and then blow it away.

Keep in mind that new computers use a SATA drive, your old Dell '8200 has an IDE drive. Also keep in mind that your Dimension 8200 drivers won't work on the new computer.

You might be able to install your Dell drive as a slave if you have an open IDE channel available.

Good news is, your old Dell uses RAMBUS memory, which is worth a lot. It's a good parts computer, and most people who look for computer parts know of the bad capacitor issue on Intel made Dell motherboards from that era.

New processor needed


Hi, For Dimension 3000 system here are your options. Pentium IV 3.2 GHz 533 / 800 MHz FSB Pentium IV 3.0 GHZ 533 / 800 MHz FSB Pentium IV 2.8 GHz 533 / 800 MHz FSB but what i'm worried about is the socket where the process goes into. for thermal issues it is expected for the socket to CHIP CREEP. Chip creep refers to the problem of chips that, over time, would work their way out of the socket. Chip creep occurred due to thermal expansion; the contracting and expanding during system heat up and cool down. you might end up replacing the mobo as well.
