Hi John
Your on the right track
It's just a computer internally
Finding the key sequence to get a RESET is the key
or if there is an internal button battery... remove it

Do you know for sure if the cable box is out sometimes you have to reset the box . usually if you unplug the box for a couple of minutes it will reboot that may do it or try rebooting both at the same time when power is off it really isn't as the units keep current available for instant on that's why its a good idea to unplug most of your appliances when going away. check out the rebooting that should do it
Check connections first and if ok and using a Cable or Sat box unplug that and power it back to see if a reboot will cure this---depending on how you are connected if using a box it may be also a defect in the box.
To try to narrow this down test to see if problem ever happens with a DVD etc hooked via rear audio and video jacks.
Unplug the box's power cord for 5 minutes and wait for it to reset, plug it in, wait another 3 minutes for the box to reboot, then power up the box. If that doesn't fix it then you might have to call your satellite/cable company.
No such thing. Your best bet is to watch various deal sites and get one of the less expensive Logitech Harmony remotes, all of which can easily control your Olevia, as well as your set top box (cable or sat), DVD player, receiver and any of over 100,000 pieces of av equipment -- including eveyr product Olevia made before going defunct.
> I heard they were restructuring their company or something. There has been a change ownership from Syntax-Brillian to Olevia International Group. Details of Olevia brand Unfortunately for all of us (we have 747i) service seems very poor and the failure mode you describe doesn't give me any clues despite 40+ years of service experience. Ours is still 100% but I now suspect our trouble will come.
In our area this is commonly the cable boxes. Does it occur on DVD or other sources? If not:
Reboot your scientific atlanta cable box by unplugging it from the wall for a few seconds, then plug it in and wait about 5 minuites for the time to come on again before use.
