I have a Whirlpool WFW9150WW01, it fills normally on hot or warm water setting but cold water setting results in F8E1 error code. Rinse cycle fills with no problem. Any ideas about where to start?

Hello. Do you have a well or are you connected to city water? That error code means no water is getting into the washer--the clue is the COLD side. If you are on a well, sand, sediment, debris, is NOTORIOUS for clogging up the inlet cold water screen. Turn off the cold water. Get a towel to place underneath the cold hose as you disconnect it from the washer. Using a flashlight, look at the metal/plastic screen. Is it clogged with dirt/sand or whatever? If so, there is your problem--CAREFULLY, using pliers, pull the screen out and wash it out if it's plastic. If it's made of a fine wire mesh, VERY CAREFULLY use a tweezers or dental probe to gently work it back out--take your time and DON'T RIP IT! Now, if the screen is clean, then suspect a defective cold water valve--you will have to remove the top cover, and locate the cold water valve. You will need a voltage/ohm meter set to AC volts. When activated, there should be 120v at the coil of the valve to open it. If there *is* voltage, then the valve is bad. If there isn't, you've got a broken wire or a defective main board. The part number for the double valve is W10212596 and the single valve is W10212598. The main board number is W10309218. The picture below shows the part of the schematic for the main control board and the connections to it from the inlet water valves. I hope I helped you!

The inlet valve that the hoses attach too the solenoid for the hot side may be stuck closed or clogged with sediment. May need new inlet valve.

SOURCE: cold water in the rinse cycle of the washer just trickles

Sounds like cold water solenoid is not opening all the way, its easy to replace, and is found inside the wash machine where the hose connects

SOURCE: Error Code F8E1 on Whirlpool Duet

f8 is shown when the heater circuit is on with no water in.. it doesnt do it when you unplug the pressure switch because your disabling the heat protect circuit

THE BOARD IS PROBABLY FAULTY

F08 indicates pressure switch stuck on full.

Unplug the appliance from the wall socket.

Take the top off the machine.

Locate the pressure switch, you can identify it by the thin tube attached to it.

Take the tube off, blow down this tube as hard as you can to shift any blockage or restriction in the pressure chamber. Give the pressure switch a couple of good taps with the screwdriver handle.

Refit the tube and try the machine again.

If still doing it, unplug again and follow the tube down.

This end will be attached to the pressure chamber.

Take this chamber off and thoroughly clean it out, clean out the port into the tub too.

Reassemble and try again.

If after this it's still faulty you'll need to start replacing parts.

I'd suggest trying a new pressure switch first.

Failing this, if all of the above fails to resolve the problem you're possibly looking at a faulty main control board.

Whirlpool model WTW5310VQO

i've found problems with the temp. switch on this washer part number W10184148 and it's around 40 dollars, also on the rinse cycle the washer only uses cold water.what happens when you use just the hot?i had a lady that her water would start to fill and then the water would stop and the pipes in the house would start making a banging sound.if you order the part from http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Switch/W10184148/1468990 repair clinic and if this isn't your problem which i think it is from how you discribe it you can send the part back and get your money back for up to a year.good luck with your washer and next time you buy something and it doesn't work right get right on it

Whirlpool auto load not filling with water to wash, but will go to rinse cycle

There are 2 inlet valves 1 for hot water and 1 for cold. Sounds like your hot water valve is either faulty or the hot water valve to it is off. The machine normally fills with hot water as it doesn't have a heating element to heat the water and fills with the cold water to rinse

It means the washer is failing to completely drain. If you can find no problem with the washer drain hose and the volume coming out is ok, then you may need to replace the CCU (central control unit)

The water fills very slowly on rinse

You probably have a cold inlet valve with restricted flow, either because the filter on the inlet valve is clogged or because the cold valve is failing......If you wash on "warm" you have both hot and cold water mixed. On rinse there is probably only cold water used....Check water flow for HOT and COLD settings and you'll probably see the difference...Good luck...Nomess

No water enters on rinse cycle

I was partially wrong on my diagnosis. No cold water enters on either the wash or the rinse cycles. I also heard odd noises from the inlet valves. I realized the cold water valve was not opening. I've ordered the mixing valve and plan to replace it as soon as it comes in.

Cold water will not stop filling during rinse

while the unit is filling in the warm cycle. reach behind and shut off the hot water tap.I bet the water flow stops filling, if so, you would need to change the inlet valve on the machine. You see, in warm, if the cold is not filling, you still hear the hot filling and the unit will advance. The rinse cycles are mostly "cold" only. if the valve is not opening it will not allow it to advance from the rinse section on the board.

Good luck!
