SOURCE: remote wont program to dish network system

You need to program your dish network remote to operate your tv. Look in your big dish manual for the codes for your tv and stuff.

Would you like to autoscan program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control your TV, VCR, receiver, or stereo?

e818a57.jpg

To auto-program device codes into your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote by searching for the code, follow these steps:

  1. Turn the device you would like to control on.
  2. Press and hold the mode (TV, VCR, or AUX) button until all the other buttons light up, and then let go. The mode button will flash.
  3. FOR AUX MODE ONLY - Press 0 for a 2nd TV, 1 for a 2nd VCR, or 2 for a receiver, amplifier or tuner. Then press the STAR (*) button.
  4. Press POWER to put your remote into scan mode.
  5. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW repeatedly until your device turns off. Each arrow press tries the next code your remote knows for your selected device type. When your device turns off, you have found a compatible code. When the remote runs out of codes to try, the device will flash rapidly eight times.
  6. Press POUND (#). The mode button will flash three times as it stores the found code.
  7. Turn the device back on and try some of the other buttons to make sure they work. If all functions work, your remote has been successfully programmed.
  8. If the code didn't work, repeat this scanning procedure to find a more compatible code. When your device turns off during your next scan, press the arrow key again until the device turns back on to signify you have found the next compatible code.
Your device's remote control codes for your TV, VCR, or receiver are now programmed into your DISH Solo DVR ViP 612 remote control.

(The other way to program your DISH Solo DVR ViP 612 remote control is to look at the tables in back of the user manual, and enter the code directly.)

I hope that helps.

My remote will not turn the tv on or adjust the sound, it will change channels

First, try pressing TV on the remote, check if that solves the problem. Then press Sat and try the TV power button again. If the remote previously controlled the TV, you lost the code for the TV. If you have your Dish Network manual, check if you wrote down the code when it was originally programmed. Which specific remote/receiver do you have? The programming directions and code lists are available here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/supportsection/remote-setup . You can also scan all of the codes to find the correct one: see http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/power-scan-instructions . Additional remote/receiver manuals are here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/manuals .

The direct coding procedure for the Dish remote that I have is: while facing the TV to be controlled (after adjusting the key for TV1/TV2 in a multiple TV system), press and hold TV until all four indicators light up. Then enter the 3 digit code. Press and release the # key. Then see if the code TV powers off when you press Power. Then press Sat and check if the TV power button works. Try additional codes if the TV doesn't respond.

If you recently got a new TV and you tried to program the remote for your TV, your dish remote may not have the code you need. (Most universal remotes are limited to codes for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed.) In that case, you should use the TV remote (and see if it has an option to control the satellite receiver). Alternatively, get a new universal remote that will control all of your devices. (The remotes that can be programmed by USB are the easiest to set up.)

I hope this helps.

Strange problem with a Dish 2800 receiver: during the daytime, it works fine. Starting about 5:00 or 6:00 PM, it starts responding poorly to the remote. That remote works fine on other receivers in the...

Hey there! This is Becki Barned, with Dish Network customer service! The problem that you may be having is with interference with the remote. Depending on how much light is shining directly on the receiver, such from a lamp in the evening, or the sunset, this can interfere with the remote responding to the receiver. If you have glass in front of your receiver, that can cause it too. Try to remove all objects or lights from the front of the receiver, and it should work fine!

Universal remote

All you need to do is a manual code search on the dish remote. If it does not respond with the manual code search, the remote your trying to use cannot be used for this TV set,or you will need to upgrade to a differant Dish remote as the code is not programmed into the remote. What happens when you do a manual code search is one by one the remote sends out every single code that is programmed into the remote. Good Luck
