When you power off the unit, it goes from bright led to low light led and shows a red light staying illuminated. Which means its STILL drawing battery. How do you turn it off completely?

Yes. Led headlights can cause service lights to illuminate. The Computer may be sensing a lights out condition caused by the low power draw of the LEDs

Sounds like you have a draw on the batteries. If your alternator has grounded a diode it will suck the power out of your batteries in no time. Easiest way to tell is to pull one of your negative battery cables and put a test light between the cable and the battery post. If you have a bright light on the test light, you are pulling a large power draw. You should have a very dim light as the only power draw should be coming from the clock, radio memory, and alarm. If you do have a bright light on the test light, remove the power cable to the alternator. If the light goes dim, you need to replace your alternator. If it stays bright, you still have a large draw, but now you need to track down the short. You can pull fuses in the distribution center one at a time until the light dims, this will tell you what circuit has the short. But you will need to trace the problem to find what needs fixing.

What cause battry to die over night?

If test light is a 12 volt light tester AND ILLUMINATES BRIGHT it shows that a component is actively trying to complete a circuit and yes drawing power causing a drain on your battery, now if test light illuminates low, possibility could just be ecm memory or antitheft system active . either way this test should only be done with a 12 volt test light as if you use a 5 volt (computer friendly) tester , false light will have you chasing a ghost. trust me. that trick helps by checking for parasitic draws a 12 volt tester does not illuminate when keep alive memory voltages are present . those voltages are not enough to drain over night. good luck

The security key light blinks until I turn the engine over & then it goes off. Any ideas whatb this means? Also the battery keeps draining. Could the blinking light cause this?

It means the immobilizer is active (anti-theft); this is normal. If your key starts the car, then it is only cosmetically damaged. The light won't kill your battery in normal circumstances. Have your battery load tested before delving any deeper into the parasitic draw (battery draining problem).

Yellow led engine light illuminated..why

it lights up because the CPU has recorded a fault that needs urgent attention. stop check oil and coolant levels. have a fault code reading done and fix the fault. To continue driving will eventually place the engine in low power mode or will cause big dollar repairs.

Have to boost it every second day.think fuse for power locks is draining battery by working all the time

remove the negative battery cable place a test light between the cable and the battery if the light is bright you have a draw remove fuses one at a time until the light goes dim then see what the fuse goes to that will be the draw unplug and unbolt the alternator as well it has diodes that can go bad

Battery goes dead every few days it has a new battery and altnator i jump it every 4days but something draws it dead this is my 1st jeep its a 99 grand cher larado with a 4.0l any ideas what would cause it

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and put a test light between the battery and the wire. If light comes on fairly bright that means that something is staying on in the vehicle. Start to pull fuses till light goes and that will tell you which circuit to look for. Could be something like a glove box light staying on that you can not see.

Hi

How about if you disconnect the battery negative, disconnect the main power lead from the alternator, insulate it and tuck it safely away, and then reconnect the battery negative. Is the draw still there? If not then I would say the diodes in the alternator are at fault.
