Question about Mitsubishi WD-65734 65" HDTV

Turns on with snow and yellow light under lamp. Why does it shut down after 20 seconds?

Mitsubishi wd 65734 had a yellow light under lamp. I replaced the lamp, comes on with snow, goes off after about 20 seconds and yellow steady light. Is it the fan? I checked to make sure the lamp I bought was the correct one and it was. So now I'm back to square one, solid yellow light, no picture, set goes off.

Yellow steady light is overheating. you have a stuck fan or its all clogged with dust. The only way to fix it is to find what is causing it to overheat or prevent the fan from spinning. It is not lamp related unless you bought a lamp that does not have an Osram bulb inside.

Same thing on my tv after replacing lamp. Lamp manufacturer advised me that after changing bulb, tv must be reset or tv will go into safety mode and will not turn on. To do this on my model WD-65734 you must hold reset button in with a pen or paperclip for about 10 secs. The LED will start blinking for a few mins. When itstops you need to unplug tv set for about 1 hour. After this the tv will be reset.

WD-65734 Mitsubishi TV won't turn on. System reset

Are there any lights lit on the front of the TV? Have you checked for a bad lamp? When you reset the TV the timer/power light should flash on and off rapidly for 60-70 sseconds. Does that happen?

WD-65734 shuts down code 38

The sensor is usually right by the lamp, somewhere by the housing. There were a few bad batches of temp sensors and some others where the temp sensor connector went bad (hardwiring fixed those) . it usually has yellow wires and should be a short (0 ohms) if good, open (infinite ohms) if bad

Replaced lamp and now can't get a picture

Hi Sally Jo, Unit powers on and works properly for a while then shuts off with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 4. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if missing replace the Power PCB part # 934C148001. Hope this helps!
