This can sometimes be the sign of a low or bad battery. Try swapping your battery with a known good unit and see if the problem persists. If you do find swapping batteries solves the problem, then you will need to troubleshoot if it is the battery or the charger which needs attention. Clean your contacts on the battery and charger with a pencil eraser to ensure good contact, and always have the radio turned off when charging. Batteries typically last approx. 18-24 months before needing replaced.

SOURCE: Kenwood Protalk tk-3200U8P will receive, but not transmit. When talk button is push a loud beep will sound. Any suggestions?

Assuming it is programmed correctly, it is a weak, undercharged or bad battery. Transmit takes a lot more power than receive. A beep or no transmit, even if the Transmit light comes on can still mean the battery condition described.

My T5950 won't stop beeping when I push the PTT button. I tried holding the PTT in when I turn the unit on and that didn't stop it.

Very likely it is the battery. Beeping means not enough power especially when transmitting. Try charging the battery again, try transmitting again and plan on new batteries. They "wear out" even when not in use.

Standard Horizon HX260S: repeatedly beeps when pressing PUSH TO TALK button.

It is a bad or under charged battery. Several beeps means the radio does not have enough power to transmit. Transmit takes a lot of power compared to receiving.

When I push the talk button, the transition lasts only thrity sec. Or so then it makes a beep.beep sound and ends the transition.why?

Most likely if this is a handheld radio, it is a bad, or weak battery. There is not enough capacity/amperage in the battery to sustain the current draw to transmit. The radio needs power to transmit, a lot more than to stay on or receive. Hope this helps!

How to turn beep off when transmitting

all the beep is for is so people can tell when you are done transmitting. There should be a push knob or button or just a plain old knob that has R.B. printed next to it . Turn it off.

Can't transmit signal. Only get a 2 second beep when I push the transmit button

You have a poorly charged or bad battery. It takes more power to transmit than to receive. Usually the first thing you lose with a low, bad or poorly charged battery is transmit.

Try a known good battery in the radio. This should solve the problem. If not, check your battery contacts, as you may have one which is bad or not making good contact.

Clean your contacts with a pencil eraser to assure good connection with the charger.

Best regards.

How do i get expanded freqs on my ft1802 yaesu tranceiver

The FT-1802 is a 50 watt 2 meter FM transceiver. It can transmit anywhere between 144 - 148 Mhz (the FM portion) of the 2 meter ham band. It can receive anywhere between 136 - 174 Mhz without any modifications. There is a modification to enable transmit "out of band" below:

http://www.ham.dmz.ro/yaesu/ft-1802-extended-transmit-modification.php

There are few details about the results of this mod - typically these provide for transmitting on frequencies outside (above, below or both) of the 2 meter ham band. Transmitting outside of the ham band without a proper license for the frequencies in the U.S. is a violation of FCC rules.

Kenwood TK370N UHF FM HANDHELD RADIO

By keeping the PTT button pushed, if you get a rapid beep and the red led is blinking, sounds like a bad battery. Batt voltage is a nominal 7.5v. anything lower than 6.25v and the low battery beep starts. A rapid beep, and no red led blinking, an error in the transmit freq.

Muting the sound

Hi,

The sound produced by a Motorola radio when the mike is keyed refers to the "Transmitting Call Tone" which is another feature other than the "Interference Eliminator" or the "Roger Beep" feature.

On most Motorola GMRS/FRS TalkAbout radios, setting the "Call Tone" to 0 disables the feature. This is done with the radio ON by pressing on the "Menu" button 3 times which will result in the display showing the current Call Tone setting (flashing) and the letters CA; pressing on the <- or +> buttons will change selection (you will also hear the different Tones), select 0 (it may be up to 5 or 10 depending on the version). Press on the "Menu" or "PTT" button to set, save and exit.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Motorola FV500 2 way radio can send/cant receive

Do you hear the Beeps on the speaker? Check for the QT and the code squelch are the same in both radios, try to set code squelch in "0". Make sure that the radio is not receiving or the other one is not transmiting, with two radios will see the same.
