Cordless land line phone:
- If it is possible to set the greeting from the base speaker phone, use that.
- If the base does not have a VOX speaker, move the handset and the base away from anything that emits elelctro magnetic RF...like wifi access points, microwaves, etc and set the greeting.
Cell Phone:
- Avoid using the handset to set the voice greeting unless your handset supports a visual voicemail service that captures the audio greeting first and then sends the audio file over the IP.
- Call your cellphone# from a landline, hit # or * and your PIN, and access the greeting menu from there.
- If your cellphone and carrier support Wifi calls, VoLTE or Packet switched voice service, set your handset up for hat feature. On an iPhone it looks like this:
