I have recently purchased a NetGear DG834G router...
I have a broadband internet connection using a speedtouch modem.
I have plugged the Router in with the necessary connections. BUT can't seem to access the internet through this connection..
When I try to access the internet.. through the NetGear router it says DNS error... or just brings my Dial up Broadband Speedtouch connection up..
I am not really understanding what I need to do. I have reset the Router (using the button underneath) and loaded the disc that came with the router a few times. But can't seem to change this.
I don't know if this is solved yet? If not....
The Netgear DG834G is a combined modem router. I don't think you need to attach it to a modem, as there is already one on board.
So, if you still have this problem.....perhaps try detaching and uninstalling the Speedtouch, and Netgear, then reinstall the Netgear router from scratch (as per your manual, or other instructions). If you need a copy of the manual, try the Netgear site...
Hope this helps you make a start, if the problem is not yet solved.
You have to configure your router...
If your ISP provided you with IP Address, enter the assigned IP address, subnet mask, gateway IP address anbd DNS IP address for your broadband router.
If you connect to the Internet using an xDSL Modem and your ISP has provided you with a Password and a Service Name, then your ISP uses PPPoE to establish a connection. You must enter the required information.
Hope this could help..
