Hi Bo,
You need to rebuild the carburetor. Here is a 2 part video on how to do this:

Good Luck!

I just fixed one of these. Starts, but won't throttle up, sounds labored.
I checked compression, exhaust for carbon build up, spark, and even the carburator for bad gummed up gas. All were fine.
What I did to fix it was...
You need to remove the high and low speed adjustment screws on the Zama carb. They are blanks, and have no slot for a screw driver. I used a roll pin that the inside diameter fit snug on the outer diameter of the ajustment screw head, and turned it with a pair of needle nose pliers. I remove them (One at a time) and cut a slot in the head with a hacksaw, to allow for future adjustment. Back them both out one full turn from seated, and then tweek to get it to run. The low speed is for idle (Out to richen), and the high speed is for wide open throttle. It's closest to the air filter.

The trimmer needs a carb adjustment, but the adjustment screws take a special tool only available to dealers. Go to poulan's website to find a service dealer near you.
