If you cannot get the specs from on line or from a service agent , generally the following apply:-
water cooled engines
inlet hot .010"--exhaust hot .012"
for air cooled engines inlet hot .012"-- exhaust hot .014"

the dimensions I gave will allow the engine to start or prestart setting cold
as the valve stem length increases with heat the tappet clearance will decrease and as all valves expand at various rates the setting is always given as a hot setting
set them at the .010" and .012" cold setting cold and when the engine is at operating temperature check and reset if necessary to the hot setting
