What you need to do is check to see if your getting current coming from the key switch to the starter. it's the thinnest wire that goes on the startex, that little round thing on the starter. if no current check the fuses you will see one as ( ST ) that is staring fuse. If fuse is ok then you check the starter relay and if that is ok then you might have a broken wire. to make sure the starter is working you could put the van in park and connect a jumper lead to the startex where the small wire runs to the starter and touch the next end to the B+ or 12 volts side of the battery and if the starter works then you have a broken wire.
Both. If the running lights ( marker, tail, clearence, or parking) and brake lights are out since the rain, a tail light assembly is broken and filling with water enough to create a short to ground. If there's no broken lens, whitch normally only blows the bulb. Then, the problem lyes in the trailer light harness. the brown wire (tail) & green wire (left turn/brake or yellow wire (right turn/brake) must be bare exsposed that shorts to ground when wet. all the trailer wires could be smashed together damaged the plastic coating on them. no problem till water shorts to ground. The white wire is the ground wire make its not able to touch the other 3 wires or bare & wet. Tape wires seperate then replace tail/mkr fuse and brake fuse. That should do it.
if you have a test light then check for voltage at the wire that only has voltage when the brake is applied that is the wire that your looking for.don`t remember the color.
Try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. If it is factory installed, there should be a plug in next to/behind the parking brake pedal... at the top. Not easy to see or get to.
i believe they want you to wire it through the parking brake for safety purpose only. so you dont drive and watch a d.v.d. @ the same time. try wiring it to a ground directly, you should be o.k.
Its illegal to do but i have done it! You have to connect the brake wire to either the pos or neg wire! You need to find out which one it is thou, so attatch it to the negative first so you dont cause any damage if it doesnt work then connect it to the pos wire and it should work a treat for ya! I stress connect to neg first!!!!!!!!!!
