The volume is not working on our Samsung HPT4254 Plasma. We have a RCA surround sound connected to it as well as our cable box.

First check to make sure that the audio isn't "Muted". Second, Go into the user menu and check to make sure that the "Melody or Chime " is turned "on". Third, Turn the volume up half way.Fourth, Turn "off" the set. You should hear a "Down" Melody or chime. Next turn "on" the set. If you did hear the Melody when you turn the set "on" or "off" then the audio system in the set is ok. If you did not hear the Melody then the Main bd needs to be replaced. Have a trained Samsung tech repair your set.

Unfortunately Without the cable box you will have to screw the coax cable into the coax input on the tv or You can screw the coax cable into a vcr and then plug the Audio / Video RCA plugs from VCR out to TV RCA input (You will have to control the channels from the VCR and the volume from the TV remote)

There are a couple of different ways you can do this but this is the easiest.

Items needed - One set of RCA audio cables (Red/White)

1) On the back of your TV there should be RCA plugs marked as "Audio Out". Connect the RCA cable to these connections Red cable to Red connector and White cable to White connector.

2) Locate on the back of the surround sound system the connections marked "Audio in (VCR)". Connect the other end of the RCA cable to this connection Red cable to Red Connector and White cable to White connector.

Now to get the sound to play press the "VCR" button on the surround remote and you should get the cable box sound on the surround system.

Good Luck.....

I have a brand new LG 50 plasma and a Bravia Sony surround sound system as well as a Cox Cable HD DVR box. I currently have it connected as such: HDMI from Bravia Sony System direct into TV HDMI from Cable...

you may have to set the input value on the bravia for optical on the input from the cable box. sometimes there is more than one way for a particular input to receive an audio signal, you may have rca(red and white), a black or orange rca type for digital, and then the optical. i would suspect you have to tell the bravia how the sound is inputed into the bravia. also , just a thought.... on the cable box there should be a volume control on the front of the box........ make sure the cable box volume is ALL the way up (it is the preamp volume).

Need hook up diagram for Samsung HDTV using HDMI with Cable box and Samsung 5.1 Surround Theater System

you can run a fiber optic cable out of the tv into the surround system if the sytem has a fiber optic input, or your tv should at least have red and white rca cables for audio out, then you just pick any input on the surround sound and any audio from dvd players ect thats hooked up to the tv will be sent through that one input on the surround sound. The only thing you'll have to do is turn the volume up or down on your sound system.

Hooking up home theater

Run a regular RCA type audio cable from your TV audio out to your Home Theatre audio in. That is what I have done recently with my Samsung LCD and Home Theater. You then have to put your Home Theater on Aux 1 or Aux 2 to get the sound from TV. Ensure your TV's volume is off.
