Try another browser like firefox 3.5 or google chrome. I recommend google chrome because it is really fast and has a nice user interface. If you really want to stay with IE, you can downgrade back to IE7, by going into windows update and deleting the update for IE8. I hope this helps!

Scroll bar won't work on some e mails

You need to fix IE8 to have it work properly with GMail, by turning off Compatibility View. 1. In IE9, press the Alt key to toggle the main menu bar on first.
2. Then in IE8 or IE9 click Tools and choose Compatibility View Settings
3. Remove google.com from the big text box if it is there (in some versions it may not be.)
4. Uncheck the three checkboxes under the text box - this is very important, or Microsoft will just switch CV back on again next time you start IE.
5. Restart IE.
That should cure all your scrolling problems.
To deal with your sidebar you have three options:
1. Hover your mouse over the section you want to see to expand that part - i.e. mouse up to your labels to have them all drop down, or mouse down to the bottom to see your Chat contacts
2. Grab the bar which divides the two sections and drag it down till you can see all your labels
3. Collapse Chat till you need it by clicking the Chat bubble icon at the bottom of the side bar.

Internet Explorer cannot open? how to fix

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem
Internet Explorer reports this problem, just because DLL files is out of date or get missing. You can update IE to latest version or download DLL file which is missing or corrupt from Microsoft.com.

IE freezes
There is a popup window trying to open, it seems load for ever. Then the browser freeze for about a minute. You have to close it but for no other choices. Run an antivirus, you will find tons of Spyware. They tend to modify your registry and damage Internet Explorer. Go to Safe Mode, clean them with your anti-virus.

Internet Explorer cannot open.
If you click IE icon, it never open but gives you an hour glass for a few seconds. You should check the compatibility. This problem occurs when you download IE7, IE8 for your Vista or Win7. Uninstall the current version from Control Panel and restart your computer. To solve this problem, you can update Windows. Click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Update.

I downloaded ie8 and had problems with certain websites and my Norton 360 kept coming up with the error "Phishing filter not set". I had no alternative but to uninstall it.

IE8 should not be doing this. When you installed IE8 did you make sure to keep smart screen filter turned off from the beginning? Also, make sure you have the latest version of NIS 2009 (either 16.5.0.134 or 16.5.0.135) installed that support norton. If all else fails try and uninstall IE8 to revert to your previous IE version, fully update norton, and then install IE8 again and make sure when you set the preferences for the first time smart screen filter is turned off.

Hello and thank you for using Fixya services.

You are not alone with this issue. I see many, many people having the same issues (on this site). I believe it is a problem with Facebooks server. They may also be maintaining it or it could be overwhlemed.

Freezing

Hi,

This may be caused due to the fact that not all websites are "IE8-compatible" (they were designed for earlier versions of IE). So, to browse such websites you can turn on the compatibility feature in IE8 by clicking the Compatiblity View button next to the address bar in IE8.
