Hayward super pump II low pressure 10 psi suction and return low

I have a 1.5 hp super pump II and 2 hayward 1200 cartridge filters.  The pressure on the filter gauges are usually around 20 and everything works fine. Now the suction side is very weak, the return water is very weak, and the pressure is around 7 on the 1st filter and 9 or 10 on the 2nd.  The pump sounds like it is working as usual, it stays primed and is full of water, I back washed my lines to the pool and replaced the filter cartridges but the return and suction are still low.. and barracuda will not clean. any suggestions.  There is an old heat pump directly plumbed in after the filters. Could the problem be there.

Pressure gauge not working

Is the unit filtering? Is there pressure and flow at the discharge to the pool? Is there suction at the skimmer? Is there movement at the basket strainer? If you answered yes to all these questions then replace the gauge.

Pump stops suction when I try to vacum pool

1. Something is stopping the seal at the basket
2. The hose going to the filter housing is partially clogged or not sealed
3. If you have a 2nd filter basket before filter housing, clogged/not sealed
4. Filter is clogged and needs to be cleaned, not just dirt, but degreased
5. Leaking pressure valve if one is used

I had a large filter and regular pressure was well above 5 psi, (8 to 10psi) with everything cleaned and running, once vacuum hose was connected it jumped to 14 to 18 psi.

We have a hayward xstream pool pump for our 18' above ground pool that my daughter got through make a wish last august. we cleaned the cartridge yesterday and when we replaced the cartridge it started...

Try taking the pool filters cartridge out and following these steps to make sure that it is installed properly.
1. Clean debris from bottom of filter tank.
2. Replace element evenly on the collector hub in bottom of the filter body.
3. Place lid evenly on filter body and turn Easy-Lok™ ring clockwise until the safety latches engage securely.
4. Close and secure drain plug (located at the base of filter body).
5. Open air relief valve (Turn lever to left).
6. Open valves (Optional suction & return valves).
7. Prime and start the pump.
8. Once air has escaped the filter and a steady stream of water is flowing from the air relief valve, close the air relief valve and note the pressure gauge reading.

1/2hp Hayward Pump for existing inground pool

you will be fine with the 1/2hp. The Hayward will move quite a bit of water as well. It may not move as much water as the 3/4hp but it's very close and the 1/2hp will cost a little less to operate so if anything, you may just have to run it for one additional hour per day to compensate. You will be surprised how much water a 1/2hp will move. The only issue with smaller pumps is if you have pop-up cleaner heads or a suction driven automatic cleaner such as a kreepy krauly, however, if a 3/4hp will run it, a 1/2hp will run it as well. You can install a larger motor on the super pump but it will not move more water unless you upgrade the impeller as well. Just make sure you don't use a bigger impeller than what the motor is rated for because it will strain the motor and cause it to overheat. Hope this helps.

Pump loses presssure when automatic pool cleaner is installed

Accurate pressure for 2 hp ag hayward pool pump

the psi range is normal and will fluctuate with the cleaniness of the filter. Depending on wether or not you have a Sand filter or an Earth Filter, you should periodically backwash(for sand) and "bump" for the earth filters. You will notice that the psi will lower back down to the lower psi range. This indicates that your water is flowing freely with little resistance.

In-g pool loss of pressure and bubbles from return line any ideas

If you notice bubbles in the water returning into the pool from the eyeball/discharge, or water in the strainer basket is visibly swirling (bubbles visible) odds are you need you replace the o-ring on the lid of the strainer basket in the front of the pump. This basket may also be clogged with debris, which also effect pressure. Could also be a cracked or warped strainer lid. Should be easy to see when you remove to check o-ring. Once you remove the strainer o-ring make sure you lube it with a good silcone based lube.
