Windchaser PACR9 troubleshooting

Hi Jeff,
There is an air leak somewhere inside.
  • Check that all windows are properly shut.
  • If the unit has an air exchanger, make sure it is closed.
  • Or there is a lot more Moisture (Humidity) in the air inside your quarters.
  • Check for massive dirt ( dust) build-up on the condenser or evaporator.
  • Lastly, do not forget to clean the filter too.
Good Luck!

My portable windchaser airconditioner pacr9 sounds like theres some water in the top area and is blowing out some water from the front vent ? any reason why ?

This usually happens when the unit is dirty. The filter provided is pretty worthless and dirt and dust build up inside the unit badly. This causes the unit to operate inefficiently. Condensate builds up on the evaporator and freezes. When it defrosts water drains through the unit to the bottom, whats left is a muddy sludge and a clogged evaporator. The condinsate will then overflow into the fan area. Normally the condensate will be exhausted through the warm air vent in the back of the unit.

To fix this, you need to unplug the unit, then remove the entire back cover. Not just the small cover on the upper portion. Once removed you can then have access to the entire evaporater and condenser. Clean these thoroughly with a vacuum and toothbrush if necessary, Let the unit defrost if the evap was clogged with ice. Drain the unit thoroughly with the tube at the bottom of unit. I lay a thick towel on the floor and let it drain into the towel. Clean the fresh air intake area on the upper rear thoroughly, I used windex, then flushed with water, which ten drained to the bottom of the unit, and out onto my towel. Reassemble and run in fan mode for an hour, allowing the condensate that overflowed into the fan area to evaporate. You should be all set.

This maintenance procedure should be performed yearly or as necessary on these units.

Ac leaks

If you are talking room a/c then the holes are water drain holes. The one on the bottom allows water to drip into a garden etc and the one at the back you can fit a hose to drain away

Top radiator leak how to fix

Remove the rear cover and clean the unit thoroughly. Use a can of air (for dusing PC's) slide the little hose under the evaporator to try to clean the drain holes that allow the condensate to drain to the bottom tank.

I need a new exhaust hose and fitting for a PACR9 unit. How/where can I get one?

Sadly the company seems to be out of business. I did manage to fashion one using a few parts from lowes. I had to use 2 small metal brackets and some zipties to attach the hose to the unit, then sealed the connection with thick foil tape.
