Machines do not pull towel threads. However, old towels have weakened fibers that will fall apart under the stress of being washed.
And if you use bleach in your wash, that is an excellent way of deteriorating fabrics for premature departure. Yes, it disinfects but it comes at a price.

Thanks for your response. It has actually come about quite suddenly (I'm confident it's not to do with the towels themselves as they vary in style and I have not had this issue till my most recent two washes) and when pulling the machine interior apart I noticed the agitator base seems rough, perhaps scratched from a lose nail (left in a pocket when washing). Could this be the cause ?

Possible. Get some sanding material and do a job on the agitator. See what happens.

Your problem could be caused the interlock but it could also be that the machine is failing to drain in the time alllowed and therefore the machine will not spin, before buying a lock check the sump hose and pump area for blockages.

When i screw the filter plug back in, the water still leaks, hoover optima wash wmh148df-80

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I suspect there is either limescale in the thread of the filter plug OR behind the filter itself and this is stopping the plug from being screwed home. Remove the plug, pull out the filter, clean filter compartment all round, especially at the back AND ensure the plug thread is completely free of limescale ;-0)

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Cant remove glass cover to replace bulb on Simpson La Stella Atlas series oven

I have a Simpson Atlas Mira. Was having a hard time getting the glass cover off too so looked on the net for a solution. Couldn't find one so I persevered and sorted it...
The glass cover has a screw-off thread (like a glass jar) which unscrews anti-clockwise (lefty loosey). I had to give it a good few wiggles and pulls before it would start unscrewing. I also had to use a damp towel to get a proper grip - it's a slippery little bugger - but I got it in the end!
Hope this helps someone - good luck!

the calypso washer is much older then 2 years. they stopped making them quite a few years ago. what you are seeing is how towels will come apart when washed with an aggressive washer. even expensive towels can be poorly sewn and will come apart when washed too hard. i might suggest you use the light cycle as it has a slower washing cycle speed. if you check your older and "better" towels are not doing the same thing as your new towels. i know its not fair but it is the way towels are now. you can try to remove the threads that are coming off your newer towels and then all should be ok, but there is nothing wrong with your washer just the way towels are now.

Tension problem Bottom thread is loopy and sloppy

You should do a Tension assembly test.
Tension assembly test. To do this test. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.)
If it doesn’t work this way then you probably have a piece of thread or lint stuck inside the tension discs. To remove it, turn the tension to 0 zero and raise the presser foot.Using a small screwdriver, open the space between the discs and spray with canned or compressed air. The stuff should come out. Do the tension test again to make sure you got everything and then try sewing again.

Have you checked the agitator? There may be sharp edges on the agitator blades. OR the towels may be getting stuck under the agitator and tub bottom. The agitator is supposed to suck the clothing down in the center and forcibly throw the clothing outwards against the tub. The cycle then repeats.
