There is somewhere some damage to the mechanism. It could be the carriage itself (the holds the tape) that has a fault on it, or something else in the transport mechanism of the tape. This could have sent the system out of position for the correct loading of a tape.

Awia HV-FX7500K has started to chew the vhs tape & Now everytime you place the VHS in the VCR it reads and ejects it within 5 seconds.

The biggest cause of that is a worn pinch roller. Replacement is the only cure. You could take off the top cover and watch an old tape being inserted. You will soon see where the tape goes wrong.

I have a used Sony SLV-920HF VCR that I am trying to set up. Every time I insert a tape it ejects it after a few seconds. Any idea why this happens?

There are two things that could be wrong. First damage to the carriage unit that holds the tape, which to me sounds most likely. The other a faulty or out of place mode switch, which could also could be caused by internal damage to any part of the mechanism.

VCR continually tries to eject the tape after it is inserted

If you have cleaned the head with a good head cleaner and you are still having a problem...the belt is probably worn. A good head clean should fix the problem.
