Hi,

The steps are :-

Replacing the cartridge:

1. Make sure the printer is on and open the printer cover
2. Make sure the printer is paused and the output tray at the front of the printer is lowered
3. Hold down the cleaning button for three seconds until the print head moves slightly to the cartridge replacement position, and the power light flashes when the print head is in position. Do not move the print head by hand, it will be damaged
4. Lift up the clamp that holds the cartridge you want to replace as far as it will go.
5. The cartridge will rise partly out of the cartridge holder. For black ink replacement, lift up only the smaller clamp on the left.
6. Lift the cartridge out of the printer and dispose of it properly.
7. Remove the cartridge from its protecting bag. Remove only the yellow tape seal from the cartridge. The yellow tape seal must be removed. Leaving the tape on when you install the cartridge will permanently damage it. Do not remove the tape seal from the bottom of the cartridge.Otherwise ink will leak.
8. Lower the ink cartridge into the cartridge holder with the label on the cartridge face up and the arrow on the cartridge pointing to the rear of the printer.
9. Press the ink cartridge clamp down until it locks in place. Do not press the cartridge itself.
10. Press the cleaning button. The printer moves the print head and begins charging the ink delivery system. This process may take a few minutes to complete. The power light continues to flash while the printer performs the ink charging operation.
11. Never turn off the printer while this light is flashing. Doing so can result in incomplete charging of ink. Even if you do not press the cleaning button, the printer moves the print head and begins the ink charging process about 60 seconds after you replace the ink cartridge.
12. When the ink charging procedure is finished, close the printer cover.

You are now ready to print.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: how do you change the ink cartridge on an epson

Hi

Open the scanner and make sure its support locks in place.

Press the Stop button. The print head moves to the position to indicate which cartridge is low or expended.

Press the Stop button again. If another cartridge is low or expended, it moves to the teardrop position. Press the Stop button again to see if more cartridges are low or expended. If no other cartridges are low or expended, the print head moves to the replacement position on the right.

Open the cartridge cover.

Squeeze the tab on the cartridge and lift the cartridge straight up to remove it. Dispose of it carefully. Do not take the used cartridge apart or try to refill it.

Before opening the new cartridge package, shake it four or five times.
8. Remove the cartridge from the package, but be careful not to touch the green chip on the cartridge.
9. Remove the yellow tape from the bottom of the cartridge. Caution:
Do not remove any other labels or seals, or ink will leak.
10. Insert the new cartridge into the holder and push it down until it clicks into place.
11. Once you replace all the necessary cartridges, close the cartridge cover and push it down until it clicks into place.
12. Release the scanner support and close the scanner.
13. Press the Stop button to begin charging the ink. This takes about 1 1/2 minutes.
When the
On light stops flashing and remains on, ink charging is finished.

SOURCE: Waste ink full How i 'll reset my printer epson dx4450

Sorry to say that there isn't currently a confirmed reset utility available on any of the usual sites...

The only POSSIBLE option I found that MIGHT work is the CX5600/DX4400 adjustment utility from 2manuals

Best of luck and hope you find a usable solution.

Why is my ink light on a steady red? I have new Epson ink cartridges in it and it has also been cleaned.

sometimes the printer does not recognize that you have changed inks, however check that they are in correctly and are full, check status monitor and check ink levels on screen. As a last resort, turn printer off wait a few seconds and then turn on again.

The epson dx4450 does not recognise brand new cartridges, somebody have an idea?

Hi there you can download this from my website.
Main features.
SSC Service Utility allow you to do many amazing things with Your Epson printer :
1) Work directly with CSIC in Epson Stylus printers cartridges.
2) Reset or rewrite any chip using special addon device.
3) Freeze internal ink counters.
4) Reset internal ink counters even with empty cartridges.
5) Separate cleaning of color and black heads for all Epson inkjet printers, powerful cleaning mode.
6) Hot swapping of cartridges supported.
7) Resetting of protection counter (even then it is already full).
8) More then 100 different Epson printers supported
This allow many people with high printing demands to save some money (program works with both black and color cartridges).
Up to day this software works under Windows 95/98/ME/2K2/XP with both the LPT and USB printers.

Epson stylus DX4450 i have changed the ink and the ink button the red light is still on and it will not let me print?

Did you use Epson Genuine Cartridges?
Epson Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.
These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

My Epson DX4450 is playing up. I have used some

I took all the inks out - and holding a cloth over the hole at the bottom shook them and then wiped the contacts with paper towels.

Replaced the contacts and left overnight for ink to charge

This morning working fine - mind you it was Friday 13th

DX4450 goes through motions of printing document but at the end there is nothing on the paper. Ink cartidges are full.

Did you just install the Ink Cartridges? If yes, did you take off strip?

Shut it down and wait 15 minutes, then turn back on.

Good Luck

Hello i changed the ink in my epson stylus dx4450 however the ink light is still on and it still wont print. i tried turning it off at the plug but still wont work

It seems that the connection on the cartridge and the printer are not proper. Remove the cartridge and clean the connectors on the cartridge and the printer. Also remove the tape on the print head.

Epson DX4450 printer

What about it? Huh? Give us a clue will ya? You want to know how to do it? When to do it? Or are you telling us you are doing it?

Put some detail in your posts please. And why post it under a generic problem for all printers. It's fairly obvious your problem relates to an Epson DX4450
