Hello, for recording into your lap top via the midi usb, you will need a small 4 channel "USB" mixer or more if you prefer, I have a 6 channel usb mixer with rca and xlr connectors, you plug your synth into the mixer via the synth's out put main xlr or rca connectors. Then from the mixer you connect the midi to usb cable to the lap top. you now can record via your lap top or amplify your synth to speakers or monitors the mixer works as a pre amp for normalizing midi sounds to the lap top. . you can also use your DAW's installed on your lap top this way just switch your audio work stations input to usb. if you want to control your audio work stations software instruments or added soft synths then you have to connect a synth directly from the midi cable as a controller. for simply recording from the synth to your lap top I recommend using a usb mixer. hope this helps http://www.briostudio.com.my/onlinestore/images/XENYX%201204USB%20Live_Recording%20Hookup%20Example.png

Download USB MIDI driver for yamaha from yamaha website, and install to laptop.
Next:
Make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF,then use an AB type USB cable to connect the instrument to the laptop.
After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument.
Laptop will immediately notify that new hardwares is connecting and automatically install the drivers. Wait until the process is finish.
Thats all. In Ableton, the setting MIDI input must be set to USB MIDI.

The ACMP function doesnt work when I play, even tho it says it is on in the display window

Check you have selected 'sync start'. The ACMP selection activates the automatic chords but not the rhythm, so each note produces a droning chord. Sync start activates the automatic chords and rhythm you have selected when you play anywhere near the bottom end of the keyboard. Alternatively you can manually press play to start the drums by themselves and then the chords will begin the moment to play with your left hand.

One of two most common possibilities are a non-functioning AC adapter or keyboard AC adapter connector next to the Power On Switch has a cold solder joint and does not pass voltage.

Yamaha 9000pro, Ps is ok but unit will not boot

You may need to perform a factory reset operation. Turn power off, hold down the DEMO button and turn the keyboard back on. The
screen should display 'Setup is initialising'. This will disappear after a few seconds and the screen will display its default. If that does not work you may need to re-install program disks, I think you should have 6 of them

Dead keys yamaha psr e413 keyboard

Dead keys on Yamaha PSR e413 keyboard: Flip keyboard upside down, remove cover screws (use marked cardboard template to remember where they came out), spray suspect key-contacts with fast-drying contact cleaner, (usually a PCB with a matrix of contacts under keys), re-assemble base cover, wiggle faulty keys as far as possible to 'scrub' any dirt or oxidization. If this cleaning trick doesn't work, get a pro to check it.

Power comes on but the psr 9000 yamaha does not boot up past the first page

The unit probably is detecting an error during the power on test... A long shot MIGHT be a button or key that is stuck on, that is sensed as being pressed. See if all the buttons are completly up. If the unit has a harddrive, a failure of it can block the booting even though the operating software is not on the drive in these. If you find a button that is sticking, put a tiney bit of CRC226 around it with a Q tip. You can get the CRC226 in the electrical dept of Home Depot. You just want to wipe the edges of the button to lube it a bit.

Please teach me how to do a recording of bits with the keyboard PSR S710, it uses a USB drive, but i don't know how to use it

You need to have a basic recording program installed on your computer. If you use Apple you can use garageband. If you use Windows you can install audacity http://sourceforge.net/projects/audacity/
You will have to install the drivers of our yamaha keyboard than connect it with the usb cable to your computer and select the PSR S710 as an input in your recording program.
