Sounds like the x-box. Try hooking up a DVD player to it and see if you can get a picture from it.

When the sound goes out you can try this to narrow down the causess:
Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be, attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find. You may be better off if the sound does work through the PC speakers, to get the TV repaired; it will be more than $100 and up.

For a remote to command another device than its own it must be programmed. Unfortunately the remote of the Vizio E322VL tv cannot be programed, it's good only for that tv.
But the remote of the Cox box is programmable and it supports the Vizio tv's like yours. Since you don't know the exact model of your remote you will have to go here

find your remote and below it you will find the instruction manual on how to program it and the specific codes - the general Vizio ones, that apply to all remote models are 0030, 1758, 0178, 0864, 0885, 1756.
