Operating systems Hi this is sravanthi.I need your assistance as i have some doubts regarding the operating systems. Consider a concurrent system with two processes, P and Q, shown in the following code. A, B, C, D, and E are arbitrary atomic (indivisible) statements. Assume that these two processes are executing concurrently. Process P Process Q begin begin A; D; B; E; C; end. end. Show all the possible interleavings for the execution of P and Q. That is, give each possible execution "trace", in terms of the atomic statements, that could occur. Can u plz give me a detailed explanation for this as i have no clear idea about arbitary atomic statements like what A,B,C,D,E REPRESENTS. AWAITING FOR YOUR RESPONSE. THANK YOU.

A method and system are described for highly declarative specification of master-detail applications of relational databases, by end users who need not be trained in programming or in database administration. The method and system includes a notation in which end users can specify applications using their own English words and phrases, and by using place holders that are set out on indented lines to specify a master-detail hierarchy. The invention improves on the prior art by allowing a wider range of applications to be specified without programming, and without work by database administrators. The invention also improves on the prior art by automatically generating explanations showing what parts of the specification, and what supporting facts from the database, have been used in obtaining an answer to a question.

I could not find th driver fo unknown device

Hi yogsolu

You don't say which Operating System you use, so my answer will be presented in general, Windows terms. If yours is a non-Windows Operating System, consider applying the logic and principles involved here to your own Operating System and, if in doubt, please feel free to add a Comment or Clarification to this Question, including information about your Operating System.

The "unknown device" is likely to be:

Keyboard Easy Button
Card Reader

Check the Drivers List again against your Device Manager list of Installed Devices for which the Drivers are properly installed and then work it out by process of elimination.

The Windows Vista and Windows XP 32 Bit Drivers for the 3000 Y410 notebook are available from the official Lenovo Driver downloads Support website here:

When downloading, select "Save" rather than "Run" to download the Driver Setup Files to your computer for you to install later. Downloading in this way means you can save/store the Drivers on a USB Fish Drive or burn them onto a CD in case you need them in future.

If your Operating System is not the original Windows XP or Windows Vista for which this Notebook was designed, then it is highly probable that no proper, full set of drivers exist for that Operating System.

I hope this helps.

The most important program that runs on a computer. Every general-purpose computer must have an operating system to run other programs. Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. For large systems, the operating system has even greater responsibilities and powers. It is like a traffic cop -- it makes sure that different programs and users running at the same time do not interfere with each other. The operating system is also responsible for security, ensuring that unauthorized users do not access the system.
Operating systems can be classified as follows:
  • multi-user : Allows two or more users to run programs at the same time. Some operating systems permit hundreds or even thousands of concurrent users.
  • multiprocessing : Supports running a program on more than one CPU.
  • multitasking : Allows more than one program to run concurrently.
  • multithreading : Allows different parts of a single program to run concurrently.
  • real time: Responds to input instantly. General-purpose operating systems, such as DOS and UNIX, are not real-time.
  • Operating systems provide a software platform on top of which other programs, called application programs, can run. The application programs must be written to run on top of a particular operating system. Your choice of operating system, therefore, determines to a great extent the applications you can run. For PCs, the most popular operating systems are DOS, OS/2, and Windows, but others are available, such as Linux.
As a user, you normally interact with the operating system through a set of commands. For example, the DOS operating system contains commands such as COPY and RENAME for copying files and changing the names of files, respectively. The commands are accepted and executed by a part of the operating system called the command processor or command line interpreter. Graphical user interfaces allow you to enter commands by pointing and clicking at objects that appear on the screen.

Press Ctrl, Alt and Del and click on the processes tab, this will show you what processes are running in your computer at the time.
If you want to stop certain processes from starting up with the computer then in the run box type msconfig, this will bring up the system configuration utility, click on the startup tab and you will see what starts up with the computer, in that tab you can disable or enable processes.
Be careful what you are doing as you can mess certain settings up if disable the wrong process.
