Does the direct drive switch do anything on the zebco 733 hawg fishing reel ? Thanks guys

Depends on what type of fishing your doing. Out of the two the bait caster is the more challenging to do because you control the line going out. That is good for fishing banks, logged areas, spinner bait. If you just want to cast with bobber go with open or closed reel. Hope that helps.
