HP Photosmart C4200 All-in-One printer

This may help HP Print Cartridge Missing or Not Detected Fix

maybe u check the laser or a transfer belt or some contact bias from a cartridge

check transfer belt a cartridge some contact bias plate laser unit some posssibilities isolation

Enter the model of your C4200-series printer into the search box here. You can either order the cartridge from there or simply jot down the number and look for it at a local shop.

Press the OK and Help buttons at the same time. An extended self test page will print out. On that page will be ink levels.

if they are generic cartridges they may not be detected u may have to use hp ink cartridges

You will not be able to see the Ink level on the printer Screen..


Remove the Cartridges, Clean the Contact Points
Install the Cartridges back. the error should go off.

If the Issue still persist, Disconnect the power Cord from back of printer, Press and hold the OK and CANCEL button and connect the cord back.

Check if Solution Center Shows Ink Level

If this does not show the ink level, you probably need to uninstall and reinstall the software as there is no 2 way communication with the printer and PC

Take out the print cartridge. Clean the points on the cartridge with cotton swab and try using it again.

If your HP is installed you have "HP digital imaging monitor" on your toolbar.
1. right click, you will see "HP Photosmart..." - "Display status"
2. Click "View Ink Levels"
