My machine won't feed. Repairman told me it needs a new feed motor but Janome doesn't make them any more. Can anyone help me find one?

You don't lower the feed dogs on the Janome CM2200. You need the cover plate to cover the feed dogs during free-motion sewing or darning. The cover plate was included in the original accessory kit for the sewing machine. You can get a replacement from many sewing machine parts shops. Yes, you can do free motion sewing and quilting with the Janome Decor Excel 5018. Look on the back of the sewing machine behind the needle and bobbin case section. At the bottom of the free-arm section of the machine, more or less in line with the needle bar, is the feed dog position switch. Move the switch towards the motor of the sewing machine to lower the feed dogs. Move it away from the motor to raise the feed dogs. when the feed dogs are in the down postion the machine stay in one place
when the feed dogs are in the up positon then the machine will sew
if the machine still doesn't sew when the feed dogs are in the up position the feed dogs need to be checked to see if they need a adjustment or need to be replaced

If it is the very first stitch after the machine is turned on, then it's just the stepper motor for the feed dogs centering itself. This is normal for computerized machines. If it does it every time you start a new seam, then you are dealing with something different.

First do a process of elemination. Unthread the machine, both top and bottom, take out the needle. Place a piece of fabric under the pressure foot, lower the pressure, and depress the foot control. Does the fabric feed? If it does, then put in a NEW needle, thread up the machine, and see what happens. A dull needle won't prevent the fabric from feeding. If the fabric does not feed with no thread, then you have a pressure foot pressure problem, or a feed dog height problem, or a feed step motor problem, or possibly a board problem. If it only has a problem when you thread it up, then maybe you have a burr on the needle plate and the thread is hanging up on it and preventing the fabric from feeding. Check for all of these and if you still need assistance respond back.

The first thing to be checked is the fuse in the bottom of the machine. Have a different dealer do this check. If the screen lights up it is not a burned out fuse. Find an Authorized Janome dealer that you trust and let him check this machine.He is the only one who can get circuit boards from Janome. The machine does have built in diagnostics for some problems.

Most likely a bad fuse. It needs to go to a repairman who knows Janome machines

I took my machine in with the same problem and they told me the display was bad. They told me that they did not make this part anymore. Try and find a parts machine.
