Henry Fonda married five times. In 1931, he wed actress Margaret Sullavan whom he divorced in 1933. In 1936, he married Frances (Ford Seymour) Brokaw, a rich widow who committed suicide in 1950. That was the year Fonda married Susan Blanchard, the socialite step-daughter of Oscar Hammerstein II. He divorced her in 1953. Then he married Afdera Franchetti, an Italian countess in 1957 and divorced her in 1961. Also in 1961, he married Shirlee Mae Adams and remained with her until his death in 1982. From the Brokaw marriage came son Peter, an actor remembered as a counterculture motorcyclist in Easy Rider (1969), and daughter Jane, an actress mainly known for traitorous disloyalty during the Vietnam Conflict.
