Oil drain plug for 7.5hp briggs straton engine

Most Briggs motors drain plugs are on the bottom they can be removed with a 3/8 ratchet extension.

Most times a good cleaning and rebuild of the carburetor will fix this problem. Most it is the needle valve and seat that leaks.

One extra thing to check if this engine has vacuum operated fuel pump is see if fuel pump diaphragm has ruptured or not. If it has ruptured fuel can get into the crankcase via the vacuum hose.

I believe that you are describing a fitting made to accept a 3/8" drive rod. If you have a 3/8" socket set, place an extention on the rachet, then insert the extention into your fitting. That should get it opened.

Just gas. It is a 4 cycle engine. I hope this helps.

The pony tiller with a Briggs and Stratton engine only uses gas do NOT mix oil with the gas.

wet vac on drain

have you stood the mower on its end ie spark plug pointing towards the floor or do you have too much oil in it .
i assume it will also be smoking a lot if you have over filled it drain some off and just let it run untill it clears same if you have stood it on its end
if neither of the above then the exhaust valve will need to be checked if and the ooil seal on it

Always use straight 30W oil in small four cycle engines if they are not liquid cooled. Use a brand name single weight 30 viscosity oil.
