SOURCE: Cannon PIXMA MP520 Problem: Error code

I had this problem with the ink carriage jammed at the left hand side of the printer. I operated the lever in a hole on the top left hand side and eased the carriage along to the middle and pushed it back onto it's runners. All OK now.

SOURCE: Message error 6A80

6A80 error is an APP position error caused by the APP motor during the purging operation as the printer starts up. Canon states that one of three components is likely to have failed, the sheet feed unit, purge unit or logic board. All of these will be almost impossible to get as a spare part. The only thing worth trying is an EEPROM reset that can be done using the service manual. Get a copy here: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/4981053-canon-pixma-mp520-printer-service-manual

You need to carefully clean the encoder strip. It's the clear strip behind the carriage that runs all the way from right to left. A damp Q-tip should remove any grease or fingerprints.

my suggestion is this go to control panel. select the printer and remove it completly. then get your disk that came with the printer and re install it. that should correct it.

Printer error has occurred 6000

Error 6000 gets displayed when there is a paper jam or other general malfunction. When the message "6000 Printer error has occurred. Turn off the printer then back on again. If the problem persists, see the manual." Is displayed, something may block the paper feed tray from opening.
If the printer is surrounded with documents or when you copy large documents such as books, make sure that you secure the clear space in front of the tray before printing / copying. When the error message above is displayed and if you find something is in front of the tray, remove it. Then, turn OFF the printer and back ON again and the printer will be ready for printing.
If you still have the trouble, contact the repair service.

Check the printer for any paper jam or try to reset the printer to release memory code errors.

1. Press and hold the Resume button for 1 - 2 minutes.
2. Open the cover.
3. Remove the cartridge and then reinstall it.
4. Close the cover.
5. Turn Off the printer.
6. Turn On the printer.

My printer Canon MP610 has an error Printer error has occurred. Turn off power then back on again. if problem persists, see the manual.

I see no one has replied. I have the same issue, and the only info is the manual saying contact Canon service.

Trying to do that, they want the serial number which they make way too hard to get. Why can't the online manual provide it?

From the service manual, both errors relate to the scanner unit:

Unplug printer power supply from wall or powerstrip. Wait 10 minutes then plug in power supply and turn on printer and try again. If problem persists and it is under warranty contact Canon for repair. Otherwise it might be time to buy a new one.
