My volume control was working perfectly fine and i could hear the sound perfectly then the green light on my "logitech" volume control turned off so sudden.I checked the cable's seems like everythings in place.What is wrong with my volume control?

There are 2 volume controls on the audio output in windows 7. one is the system volume the other is the device volume. make sure that they are both at full and then control the sound volume on your speakers.

A consealed plug under the wheel console had pulled out

The sound lead had been disconnected to allow another device to be fitted

When you are in a call, find the little down arrow beside the call time near the bottom of the call window. Choose Sound Settings...
Find the green volume indicator under Microphone and make some noise. If it lights up and moves, your mic is working fine. Adjust the volume of the microphone by dragging the speaker slider left or right.
If the indicator doesn't move or light up, try choosing another device from the Speakers dropdown list. If you still can't make yourself heard, repeat this for all the devices.

If this doesn't help, reinstall your audio (sond card) driver software.

First try going to your control panel,

• click on sounds and audio devices,
• click on audio at the top of the sounds and audio devices properties box
• after that your default device should be listed under sound recording.
• click on volume where it says sound recording should have a picture of a microphone, a recording control box should pop up, make sure the microphone box has a check in it,
• click on advanced under the microphone box, put a check in the microphone boost box.
• then exit from the control panel and right click on the icon of the little speaker at the bottom of your task bar.
• click on open volume control.
• your volume control box will appear, make sure the microphone mute box is not checked.
• then set your microphone level.

I was having the same problem but I seemed to solve it by having the laptop volume maxed and using the dock to control volume. I think that it has a sleep function where if it is not getting a signal it powers off and for some reason the laptop isn't putting out a strong enough signal to keep it awake. Maxing the laptop volume seems to give it a constant enough signal so that the problem went away.

unless you are capable of replacing the jak on the speaker u need a new pair. the wiring functions the the jack which is now broken

Look into your computer audio setup, usually a icon in the lower right. they have controls for volume, some have different areas such as oper sounds, outdorrs, etc. Maybe these are turned down or muted...Also plug a head set into the CD or DVD rom port in the front if yu have and see if the volume is good. Possible bad audio card. Also try different speakers. Small speakers sell for $20.00 or less.

The first things I would check would be the volume control within your operating system. If I assume you have Windows XP, you would go to Start-->All Program-->Accessories-->Entertainment and click "Volume Control". Make sure all of the sliders are at least 1/2 way up. You might also want to check to make sure the cable from the speakers to the computer is plugged into the proper jack (usually the green one), as sometimes computers have jacks for rear speakers, which might make them sound quieter.

I'm taking it that from what you're saying, the other speaker is working perfectly.

here are a few things you could try, if this is the case. You've probably attempted most of them, but it doesn't hurt to cover all your bases.

Turn both your speakers, and windows Volume Control up full blast. (while you're within the Volume Control window, it wouldn't hurt to check to see if the balance is off there, as well). Put your ear to the speaker, and listen hard- do you hear any faint hissing or crackling sound, like static?

If you do, then the speakers are working perfectly on their end. The hissing sound would be power going through them. this can only mean that there is :

a) a problem with the connection to the computer - fiddle around with the cable connecting it, twist it slightly in the socket and look for and *gently* bend any creases you may find back into their proper places, while playing a song. if at any point you hear the other speaker come on, you have your culprit. Also, try plugging a headset or spare set in if you have any, to eliminate the possibility it's a bad jack with the soundcard. if you hear both speakers on your headphones playing, it's NOT the card.

b)a problem with the software you're using to play sounds. again, open up Windows Volume Control, and check the speaker balance there. if the problem occurs only with certain programs, like Winamp or Windows Media Player, open up those programs and check the balance there.



If you, on the other hand, DON'T hear any sound coming
from the speaker in question, or if what happened above doesn't work, it could be a problem with the cable connecting the two speakers together. Play with the audio cable connecting to both of them for a bit, see if you can get them working by repositioning it, again while playing test music.

If the above solutions don't help, you could be looking at a blown speaker, and they may need to be replaced. if you do so, i'd recommend any one of the 2.1 (two speakers and a subwoofer) systems that Logitech sells. they are extremely simple to set up, and have excellent sound for a good price.

Check the sound card system Can your hear through headphones for example?
